These are the winners of the "Portrait" category of our Light & Lens Camera Club's Fall 2025 Photography Competition & Exhibit. This competition is open to anyone, and is held annually in November. (Photo credits for these pictures go to our L&L member Jeannine Gunter, who won several awards in this year's competition.) At Tuesday night's meeting of the light and lens club we practiced splash photography. First we shot water drops in the dark letting an off camera flash freeze the action. Then we dropped strawberry’s into a glass and shot the splashes with cell phones.

Paul Kraay will be doing a presentation on Water Droplets.

Summary: Water drop collision photography is the art of timing water drops to create a splash that will then collide with another drop of water. It will then create various artistic shapes freezing the entire thing at precisely the exact moment to photograph the collision. All you need to do is spend hundreds of dollars on solenoid valves, laser triggers, and specialized drippers to replicate the exact physics of a leaky kitchen faucet. A good working knowledge of profanity is helpful. I will bring the equipment and walk you through the process, will you have the magic touch? Join us Tuesday to try your luck!

Bring your camera gear, including a tripod for the presentation/demonstration.
