I’m Emma, Centralia’s City Clerk and one of the slightly sleep‑deprived masterminds behind these RAGBRAI posts.

I’m a runner by default, the kind of person who thinks lacing up shoes and heading out the door is a perfectly normal way to unwind. Last year I decided to get adventurous and try a sprint triathlon, and it ended up being way more fun than I expected. I even enjoyed the biking part! I just haven’t had the chance to do another one because life keeps scheduling itself without my permission.

These days, most of my biking happens on a spin bike or while chasing my kids around the neighborhood as they zoom off like tiny Tour de France hopefuls. So no, I’m not an avid bicyclist, but I am very good at yelling “Wait for me!” while sprinting after a child who has no idea how brakes work.

So as RAGBRAI rolls into Centralia, I’ll be out there cheering loudly, soaking up the energy, and pretending I know what cyclists mean when they talk about cadence and gear ratios. Whether you’re a seasoned rider, a casual pedaler, or someone who trained by chasing kids on bikes, we’re excited to welcome you.

Centralia’s ready for you, and I can’t wait to be part of the fun right alongside you.

Hi bikers - I want to take the time to introduce myself as the Mayor of Centralia! My name is Taylor Thul and I am looking forward to cheering you all on at your last stop before Dubuque. 🎉 This is my first term as mayor and I’m proud that I was able to bring Ragbrai to our little community. I am an avid biker myself, although mostly on the mountain biking side, maybe some of you can convince me to road bike a little more. 😜

We will have more details about our town and vendors in the near future. We can’t wait to see you all!
