Community connections are at the heart of HALI’s work. 💙
Earlier this month, we joined the Suffolk County Police Department’s , bringing our outreach team into the community to share resources, connect with neighbors and provide Narcan training.

HALI Director of Outreach Adriana Kijko and Outreach Specialist Taylor Brownyard also connected with Suffolk County Legislator Dominick Thorne and Police Officer Vincent Maio of the SCPD’s Community Relations Bureau. Officer Maio is a familiar face to HALI through his ongoing support at St. Paul’s Church in Patchogue, one of our regular Mobile Shower Unit stops.

Thank you to the Suffolk County Police Department and everyone who came out for a great evening of connection, education and community partnership.

HALI has been selected to receive a 2026 Neighborhood Grant from The Starbucks Foundation, thanks to a nomination from Kayla and the amazing team at Starbucks Store #11811 at 2061 Jericho Turnpike in Commack, NY.

Bi-weekly visits from our friends at Molloy University Community Care Mobile Clinic bring free health screenings, education and resources directly to participants at HALI’s Recovery Center.

Collaborations like this help reduce barriers to care and recognize that mental health and physical health are deeply connected. 🏳️‍🌈 HALI is proud to share that we've achieved Bronze Certification from the NY LGBT Network! This certification recognizes organizations that demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and community engagement. It reflects our ongoing efforts to create a welcoming, affirming environment for our participants, staff, and the communities we serve.

This achievement was led by HALI's Committee and would not have been possible without the dedication of several team members. Special thanks to:

We’re grateful to the team at Techworks Consulting, Inc for giving 22 of HALI’s laptops a second life, putting them right back to work supporting our mission. By donating their time and expertise to securely wipe, rebuild and reconfigure these devices, the Techworks team helped extend the life of valuable technology and make the most of the resources we have available to serve our community. We’re fortunate to have community partners who believe in finding practical ways to make a difference.

Sometimes the best thing you can do with old technology is give it a second life.

Hands Across Long Island, Inc. (HALI) came to us with a batch of retired laptops, machines that were past their prime for their team, but far from finished. Over the past several weeks, our engineers wiped them, wrote a custom provisioning script, and rebuilt 22 of them on Linux Mint so they could go straight back into service at HALI. Today we delivered them in person.

This is what Techworks Gives Back is all about. Hardware that would otherwise sit on a shelf or head to a recycler gets rebuilt and returned to an organization doing real work in our community. No invoice, no agreement line item-- just a few of our engineers spending time on something worth doing.

Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in community. That’s why we're thrilled to announce that HALI has been awarded funding to establish a new Clubhouse Program in Suffolk County!

Clubhouses are communities where people living with mental health challenges come together to build relationships, contribute their talents, pursue work and education, and support one another. Members choose how they participate and help shape the community itself.

This exciting opportunity will allow HALI to expand our peer-led services and create another welcoming space where people can find belongings and hope.

We look forward to sharing more details as our Clubhouse takes shape!

Congratulations to our own Liz Perry, Chief Program Officer, for presenting at the The Supportive Housing Network of New York's 24th Annual New York State Supportive Housing Conference!

Liz spoke about increasing employment opportunities for people living in supportive housing, reflecting HALI's commitment to expanding opportunities for people to contribute their talents, earn income, and pursue the lives they want.

We're proud to have Liz representing HALI and sharing our experience with colleagues from across New York State.
