Central Falls Alumni Association The Alumni Association was founded to help grow and sustain a culture of achievement in the schools & community of Central Falls. Join our movement!

After being deemed persistently low performing by the Rhode Island Department of Education, Central Falls High School adopted a transformation model of education with the aim to address three key areas: improve graduation rates, increase math and reading proficiency, and improve school culture. The past four years have indeed been transformative. A report by the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University showed the following:

• As of February 2014, the graduation rate is 74%; up from 48% in 2010.

• High school math proficiency has nearly doubled

• Based on survey responses from teachers, students, and school leadership, school culture has significantly improved

Central Falls Alumni celebrate with fervor the important milestones that the district has reached and realize that this has been possible thanks to the many people willing to give Central Falls a second chance at improvement and success. The Central Falls Alumni Association believes that it is the personal and civic responsibility of Central Falls alumni to contribute to the positive progress of the Central Falls community and help cultivate a community where education is at its core. Our Goals

The goals of The Central Falls Alumni Association are to:

• Establish an Alumni Scholarship fund
• Identify and implement ways in which the CFAA can encourage, empower, and provide greater academic and professional opportunities
• Increase alumni involvement and retention in the community
• Develop mentoring opportunities

Last week, the Central Falls Alumni Association, Central Falls Mayor’s Office Mayor Maria Rivera, and Central Falls Schools were honored to be part of the unveiling of the new Central Falls High School Auditorium which has been named in honor of the Davis Family, recognizing two Central Falls High School alumni: EGOT-winning actress and producer Viola Davis and her sister, longtime Central Falls educator and former theater director Dr. Deloris Grant.

The ceremony also marked the completion of the Etched in Time: The Central Falls Legacy Campaign, unveiling personalized plaques recognizing community members, alumni, families, and supporters who contributed to the campaign in support of the school’s theater and arts programming. In total, over 100 people participated in the campaign and raised over $40,000 to provide Central Falls students with access to the arts.

Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign and the much deserved recognition of the Davis Family whose strong belief in the arts will propel the future generation of CF students forward.
