Blackstone Valley Tourism Council's program Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful is proud to be the FIRST United States partner with Japanese anti-litter tech company, Pirika, Inc.

Pirika is a recognized leader in environmental tech, with a cleanup app used by over 2.5 million people in 130+ countries. Rhode Island now joins that global network.

Thank you to Mayor Chris Beauchamp, Maryanne Brandmeier from Japan-American Society of Rhode Island, John Ahumada, Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative, and the other volunteers that joined us for the kick off ceremony!

The Blackstone River that flows from Worcester to Pawtucket has taken a beating over the years from industrial pollution to raw sewage.

The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council paired with the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park is proud to have received a grant from the National Park Foundation to connect students with the Blackstone River and foster the next generation of environmental stewards! As an Open OutDoors for Kids grantee, we are excited to be able to offer Public School 4th grades in Pawtucket and Central Falls free outreach and RiverClassroon programming for the 2026-2027 school year. Public school 4th graders can enjoy in classroom visits coupled with a fully funded (including transportation) Explorer RiverClassroom visit.
