Sam Davis Lodge #158 Knights of Pythias proudly salutes and congratulates our own Rick Bruno for being elected Tennessee Grand Chancellor during the state organization’s annual convention held recently in Pigeon Forge. Bruno, a longtime member and Past Chancellor Commander of Sam Davis Lodge, was sworn into office by Supreme Chancellor Donald Stamm this past Sunday and will oversee activities of the fraternal order in Tennessee for the ensuing year. We hope our entire community will help us recognize Rick for his achievement and wish him well as he settles into his new position with the Order.

Sam Davis Lodge #158 Knights of Pythias of Centerville, Tennessee was proud to once again host the county’s annual Veterans Day Observance. The beautiful day allowed a large crowd to come out and show their appreciation for those that have worn and currently wear, the uniform of our Country.

Taking part in the celebration were members of the local various veteran organizations, students from Hickman County High School’s Jr. R.O.T.C. program, several public and civic dignitaries along with guest speaker, Bill Smathers, a three-time veteran of the United States Army, Air Force and Navy Reserves.

Sam Davis Lodge No. 158 of Centerville Tennessee proudly congratulates Emma Borntrager, a Junior at East Hickman High School, for placing second in this year’s Knights of Pythias Poster Contest. The theme was “Adopt A Pet”, and Emma’s entry came in first in the Sam Davis Lodge competition, and then went to take first place at the Tennessee Grand Lodge. That allowed her to go on to the Supreme Lodge competition where she came in second and gained $500.00. Her total winnings for all three levels amounted to $700.00. The Knights of Pythias poster contest is open each winter/spring to all junior and senior students enrolled in either a public or private school or is home schooled. Information on the next contest will be available soon after the first of 2025.

Congratulations to the five newest members of Sam Davis Lodge No. 158 of Centerville, Tennessee. Woodson Broadbent, Richard Hollis, Maurice Carkuff, Leon Brower, and Frederick Albee were initiated into the lodge during ceremonies conducted by the lodge ritual team on Saturday, November 18, 2023. We want to thank Centerville Masonic Lodge No. 618 for allowing us the use of their facilities while our own historic lodge hall undergoes major repairs suffered during a storm this past March. We look forward to learning more about our new brothers as they begin their quest to learn about Pythianism.

Saturday, November 11th, was a beautiful day for a large crowd to gather at Hickman County Veterans Park to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have proudly worn the uniform of the United States of America. This annual event was hosted again by Sam Davis Lodge No. 158 Knights of Pythias. Those in attendance were treated to a special message delivered by CPT Gino Giambelluca USMC (Retired) of Loretto, Tennessee, presentation of our Nation’s Colors by JROTC members of Hickman County High School, a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner provided by Summer Boyd, and raising the P.O.W. flag and placing a wreath on the Veterans Memorial by dual Pythian members and American Legion Post 36 and VFW Post 4967 both of Centerville. A highlight of the day was retiring an American flag in honor of 103-year-old Sydney Weisman, who had recently passed away but not before being recognized two months ago as Centerville’s oldest living veteran.

Sam Davis Lodge No. 158 of Centerville, Tennessee helped our town celebrate its 200th birthday this past Saturday joining festivities on the public square and around the courthouse. We set up a booth to let people know that our lodge was still alive and active even though we have temporarily lost the use of our Castle Hall. Last spring, the building adjacent to us sustained severe storm damage. Luckily, our building only experienced some roof damage, but it still had to be condemned while our neighbor explores solutions to permanently address their building. We are hoping to be able to get back to business as usual by this time next year.

In the meantime, it was great being out in the community again sharing our Order with all that ventured by. There was a continuous stream of activity at our booth with many questions being answered. Numerous brochures and Q&A flyers were handed out, and the memorabilia we had on exhibit were enjoyed by all. We also picked up two petitions for membership and believe more will follow. The members that could attend all enjoyed a fun day and continue to seek other ways to spread the word about our lodge and the Knights of Pythias.
