Hello friends, neighbors, fellow Centerville residents, and Barnstable taxpayers.
The Town of Barnstable is proposing to INCREASE YOUR TAX BURDEN UNNECESSARILY.
The sewer project is now projected at $1.6 BILLION.
SPENDING $1 MILLION UNNECESSARILY IS A BAD IDEA.
Now is the time to tighten purse strings, not spend money on $1 million unnecessarily.
The Town of Barnstable is proposing to purchase 310 Main Street in Centerville and destroy it in order to accommodate a sewer pumping station. This is totally unnecessary as there is a pumping station site that has been on their wastewater management plan for years, which they already own, which is a few hundred yards away.
Wastewater management is important.
A sewer may be a good idea.
SPENDING $1 MILLION UNNECESSARILY IS A BAD IDEA.
The proposed sewer project price tag is now at $1.6 BILLION.
The projected cost is $100,000 PER HOUSEHOLD.
Now is the time to tighten purse strings, not spend money on $1 million unnecessarily.
The northern tip of Mother's Park has for decades been the designated site for any waste water pump.
310 Main Street was for sale when the engineers saw the for sale sign, and decided that they should spend over $500,000 of YOUR MONEY to purchase something that they don't need.
No abutters were notified of this Town Council action until just a few short days before the final vote.
