Today, we remember.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer or a long weekend. It is a time to pause, remember, and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

As you spend time with family and friends today, please take a moment to remember the heroes who made those moments possible through their sacrifice and the Gold Star families who carry that sacrifice every day.

From all of us at Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. OH3 chapter, thank you to those who gave everything for our freedoms. We remember and honor you always.

Rocky’s Run was another awesome success! Even the rain couldn’t keep people away this Memorial Day weekend; so many came out to run, show support, and remember our nation’s heroes. 🇺🇸

Our chapter was proud to attend the 14th Annual Rocky’s Run for Freedom, with our President Robin and 3rd Vice President Jeannine representing us.

Held in honor of their son, CPL Paul W. Zanowick II, AKA “Rocky,” Rocky’s Run is also a tribute to all fallen heroes. Through this special event, the Zanowick family continues to touch so many lives while raising funds that support active duty service members and veterans.

Paul and Nanette are truly some of the most caring people you’ll ever meet. Despite experiencing such a heartbreaking loss, they continue to give back to others with kindness, strength, and compassion that inspires everyone around them.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this special event and help keep the memory and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes alive.

WHIO interview about Rocky's Run for Freedom

Zanowick, a Miamisburg High School graduate, joined the Marines in 2008 and died in Afghanistan in 2011. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart.

Last Saturday’s care package packing at the Troop Center was another success! 🇺🇸

This weekend, 43 care packages were packed and shipped out to deployed service members. We are incredibly thankful for the mothers, volunteers, and donors whose support helps make packings like this possible.

Week after week, these boxes continue to go out because of the people who keep showing up and giving back. From donations to volunteering their time, every contribution helps us continue our mission of reminding our deployed troops that they are supported, appreciated, and never forgotten.

What an incredible day at our Red, White, and Back the Brave event that took place at Sam’s Club in Centerville last Friday!

Our hearts are full seeing how our community showed up to support our mission and our troops. We are so very thankful to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Dayton Ohio for partnering with us and helping bring this event to life, to Sam’s Club for welcoming us into their parking lot and generously donating the hot dogs and hamburgers for our cookout, Centerville police and fire for helping out, and to the Montgomery County Recorder’s Office for being there to share information with veterans about their DD-214 recording program and the free county Veteran ID card available to them as a token of their service.

Because of all of your support, we raised $712 in cash donations along with so many essential in-kind donations that will go directly toward supporting our deployed service members. We also had the honor of pinning several veterans, met a few new members, and made so many wonderful new connections throughout the day.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, donated, and shared in such an amazing day with us. This is what community looks like, and we are so grateful! 🇺🇸
