Seeking: A Saint with Four Legs and a Tail ✨

The Shane Center is on the hunt for our next equine superstar. Our current horses are wonderful, but most are all pushing their late twenties / early thirties! We need a younger horse to step up to the plate!

We are looking for either a care lease or a purchase (mid-4figures or less).

Why Horses Love Working Here:
We pride ourselves on offering a 10-star home where our horses actually get to live like horses. Our team enjoys a beautiful 30+ acre facility with plenty of room to roam, graze, and people to pamper them.
Because they love their environment and their jobs, our lesson horses stay healthy and happy for an incredibly long time. While most lesson barns expect 5 to 7 years of service, many of our horses easily surpass the 10-year mark—a track record we are incredibly proud of! We take exceptional care of our team, both in and out of the arena.

The Checklist:
Age: 6–15 years old. (Seriously, no horses over 15. Our senior center is officially full!).

Build: 14–16 hands, 1,000–1,300 lbs, and rocks a warmblood-sized halter.

Health: Sound and an easy keeper. Very light maintenance is fine, but they must play well with others in a herd.

Baggage: None. No vices, no drama.

Required Skills:
We need a horse that has "been there, done that" (think 4-H, trail riding, clinics, or showing). Your horse must be able to walk, trot, and canter with beginners, and—most importantly—remain completely unfazed when a rider is gently led around because they haven't figured out steering yet. We are looking for maximum patience and tolerance here!

The Probationary Period:
Every applicant goes through our 8-week "boot camp" training program, culminating in mock lessons where our staff simulates typical beginner-rider chaos. After passing 10 consecutive mock lessons, they’ll officially join the team! If a horse tells us they’d rather not have a career in therapeutic riding, we will safely return them (if a lease) or find them a more suitable home unless the seller wants to buy them back. To keep our horsese mentally and emotionally fit, our experienced staff rides and works them between student lessons.

Think your horse has what it takes to join our 10-star home?
Send an email to [email protected] with their stats (Age, Height, Weight), price/lease terms, past experience, conformation photos from all four sides, and video footage of them at the walk, trot, and canter (both under saddle and loose/lunging).

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are looking for a group service project or two to help us clean up our trails. After the recent storms, our trails are unpassable. We are in need of older teens, college age students/young adults, and or adults. We also need adults who are experienced with chainsaws. Big things are happening at the Shane Center! 🐎✨

We are overjoyed to announce the installation of our state-of-the-art SureHands lift, a game-changer for our riders who use wheelchairs. This new space saving design allows for a smoother, safer, and more dignified mounting and dismounting process, effectively reducing barriers to the life-changing benefits of therapeutic riding.

This milestone was made possible by an incredible collaboration of generosity. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to:

The Harry C. Moores Foundation

The Knights of Columbus St. John Neumann Council Measure Up Campaign

An anonymous donor through the Columbus Foundation

Our wonderful individual donors

Because of you, more riders can experience the freedom of being in the saddle. Thank you for helping us Gallop Toward Independence! 💙
