We want to take a quick moment to brag about the amazing boys in our community. We could not be more proud of this group of 4th-6th graders.
The SLRC Boys Crew trained hard and built confidence to do something new. They had FUN and cheered each other on. They built their own team environment that encouraged each kid to be themselves, build endurance, find joy in running, and set goals without the stress that so often comes with the end of the school year. On Saturday EVERY teammate crossed the 5k finish line. 💪We did not hear ONE complaint about bad weather. And we witnessed JOY as the boys surpassed their own expectations and saw their new friends do the same.
SLRC Boys Crew was lucky to have 4 junior coaches. These high schoolers volunteered their time despite their own crazy schedules to run with our team and serve as role models and mentors. Quite frankly, they were way cooler than the grown up coaches 😉
We send best wishes to our founding 6th grade class as they move on to middle school sports and clubs. We hope you come back as future junior coaches. Running is truly a gift. No matter your speed, it helps build community. These kids are a testament to that. Well done 👏👏👏
