💭 Are young adults currently experiencing a dating recession? 💭

An article posted by The Wheatley Institute back in February: State of our Unions 2026, highlights several concerning trends:

📉 Fewer young adults are actively dating
😕 Dating confidence is low within young adults
💸 Young adults reported significant financial and social/emotional barriers to dating
🧠 Dating resilience is low among young adults

️ This suggests that it may be more than a cultural shift— there is a need for relationship education and skill development. We spend significant time teaching people how to succeed professionally, yet far less time is spent helping people develop skills needed for healthy relationships, despite relationships being one of the strongest predictors of long-term happiness, well-being, and flourishing.

❤️ Relationship education matters because healthy relationships don’t happen by accident. They are built through intentional skills, support, practice, and community. ❤️

🏡 If we want stronger families, healthier communities, and more connected lives, we can’t treat relationship development as something people are just supposed to “figure out on their own”.

✨The future of relationships may shift from finding the “perfect person” to helping people become more capable, confident, emotionally healthy, and resilient partners.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded of the powerful role communication plays in our emotional well-being and relationships. The words we choose- whether spoken to a partner, family member, friend, or even ourselves- can encourage connection, build trust, and create space for healing.

At PREP, Inc., we believe healthy communication is one of the foundations of strong relationships. Listening with empathy, speaking with care, and responding with understanding can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.

This week, we encourage you to pause and consider the impact of your words. A kind conversation, a supportive check-in, or simply feeling heard can go a long way.

A small ask, with a lot of appreciation. 💙

To our facilitator community- so much of the care, intention, and presence you bring into your workshops isn’t always visible beyond the room. But it matters deeply, and we’d love to help share and celebrate the impact you’re creating. 🤝

If you’re open to it, we invite you to share a photo (or a few!) from your recent workshop. Moments of connection, quiet reflection, laughter and collaboration- whatever feels true to your experience. 💫

You can

Marriage is declining in the U.S. 📉

In 1970, 69% of adults were married. Today, it’s closer to 50% (Pew Research, 2026).

🚩 It’s easy to frame as a loss. But from where we sit, it’s a signal. 🚩

The script that once guided relationships is fading. People have more choice, more autonomy- and fewer built-in models for how to make relationships work. The research is clear: when structure decreases, skills matter more.

Couples today aren’t opting out of connection.💖 They’re navigating it without a roadmap.

🔑 That’s why relationship education isn’t a “nice to have” anymore- it's essential. 🔑

At PREP, Inc., we believe people are capable of strong, long-lasting relationships-they just haven’t been taught how to build them.

So, the question isn’t: “Why is marriage declining?”

It’s: Are we equipping people with the skills to succeed in the kinds of relationships they’re actually building?🤔

The need for intentional, skill-based relationships has never been greater. For those looking to do this work- whether with couples, communities, or in the classroom- training in evidence-based programs like PREP is one way to start closing that gap. ➰

🌎 Earth Day reminds us: healthy systems need care-- and so do relationships. 💙

Just like our planet, relationships thrive when we pay attention, invest energy, and prevent small problems from growing into bigger ones. Research in relationship science shows us that consistent “maintenance”- communication, shared meaning, and emotional responsiveness- keep couples resilient, just like sustainable practices keep ecosystems healthy. ♻️

Neglect either system, and small cracks can expand into serious challenges. 🚨

This Earth Day, consider the role you play in shaping relational ecosystems.
🌿 How are you building habits that nourish connection?
🌿 Are you teaching skills that help relationships grow and adapt, just like we aim to do for the planet?

At PREP, Inc., we help facilitators teach couples to build intentional, sustainable relationships- because thriving partnerships, like a thriving Earth, don’t happen by accident. 🌱💚

🛑 Alcohol Awareness matters — especially in how it impacts our relationships ❤️, communication, and emotional well-being 🧠

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) reminds us that alcohol misuse doesn’t just affect
individuals — It can influence trust, conflict, and connection with others. ⚠️ Being mindful of drinking habits 🍷, recognizing warning signs, and creating space for honest conversations are all key steps toward healthier relationships.

For facilitators, this is an opportunity to use our evidence-based flagship curriculum, PREP 8.0 v2.1 to guide 👫 couples into developing the targeted outcomes:

🤝 Improved Conflict Management
❤️ Friendship & Positive Bonding
Commitment Strengths
🌟 Relationship Stability

These aren’t just outcomes — they're protective factors 🌱 that help individuals and couples navigate challenges with resilience and intention, while also reducing risk factors such as alcohol misuse.

For facilitators, this is an opportunity to lead with purpose — integrating these 🛠️ skills into your work and helping participants make connections between relationship health and real-life choices. If you are not yet trained in PREP 8.0 v2.1, now is the time to take that step.
