Kids/Parents: Do you like pancakes? Want to create some art with live maggots? Hop into a SWAT truck? See a helicopter land? Watch our K-9's bite someone (safely of course)!

Then grab your family and tell your friends to head over to the Sheriff's Office this Saturday, August 13 at 8am for a FREE and fun filled day of activities.

New this year:
👉The Denver Police Department helicopter will land on our front lawn at 9:00 AM
👉 Our Special Operations Response Team (SORT) will demonstrate protestor and riot response and how to bring those incidents under control using special tactics and equipment
👉The 18th Judicial District Attorney John Kellner will be in the dunk tank!

Parents, you can tour the Coroner's Office or get a history tour of the Sheriff's Office and watch how firefighters rescue accident victims with the jaws of life.

The event is FREE and so is the breakfast, plus we have plenty of free parking. More info here:

Megan Amonson - Third Grade
Hi Peabody Families! My name is Megan Amonson and I am teaching 3rd grade this year. I grew up in MN and moved to Colorado 12 years ago on a whim! The lakes back home are great but the mountains are my favorite. I live with my husband, Travis who is a Principal at the new Career Exploration High School in LPS, and my two kiddos, Jace and Clara. We are all in the LPS school district this year and we love it! LPS is truly our home and we are so proud to be part of a community that puts kids first. In my free time I like to run, play with my kids, hike, bike and read. I am looking forward to this school year for so many reasons. The top reason is because we have so many fun things planned for kids and I know it will be the best year yet!

I am so happy to be working at Peabody for my 2nd year! I am a 3-year-old golden doodle, and I became a certified therapy dog in 2020. I typically work at Peabody on Mondays, Thursdays, and some Wednesdays. My favorite things to do while working are playing "fetch it up" with students, running outside with students, "kissing" students, getting lots of love from students and staff, doing tricks for treats, and making everyone who sees me smile and laugh. In my spare time, I enjoy walking with my mom and Mel, playing "fetch it up" with my family, counter surfing, stealing food, eating food, barking at everyone who walks by our house, and chasing wild bunnies and squirrels. I rarely relax - I love to be around people and I would play "fetch it up" with my frisbee all day long if I could!

I am so happy to be working at Peabody for my 2nd year! I am an 8-year-old golden doodle, and I became a certified therapy dog in 2019. I typically work at Peabody on Tuesdays, and my favorite thing to do while working is to sleep next to students as they find comfort in petting me. I also love doing tricks for treats! In my spare time, I enjoy walking with my mom and Louis, playing with Louis, sleeping, sunbathing in the yard, and eating. I am a super chill dog!

Heather Sherman - School Social Worker and 504 Coordinator

I am so happy to be working at Peabody for my 3rd year! Prior to coming to Peabody, I was a school social worker in Douglas County for two years. I obtained my Bachelors degree at Middlebury College, and my Master of Social Work and certificate in Animal Assisted Social Work at the University of Denver. I have two certified therapy dogs, Mel and Louis, who work with me at Peabody. Before moving to Colorado, I lived and worked in NH, VT, IA, CA, TX, MD, Washington, DC, Ukraine, Russia, Spain and South Korea. I have two children - a daughter who is a sophomore at Heritage, and a son who is an 8th grader at Goddard. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies and Netflix series, walking Mel and Louis, traveling, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

Vera Hergert

I have been married to Alan for 38 years and we have two adult children.
My favorite things to do are reading, gardening and feeding wild birds. I love trees and have planted several baby trees in my yard this year. In my spare time I volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children (CASA).
I have been a part of the Peabody community for 5 years, working in the SACC program as well as being a Paraprofessional. I love encouraging kids and helping them develop a love of learning. Their smiles make every day great!

Amy Shimniok - Library Paraprofessional
I am so glad to be starting my third year as a paraprofessional at Peabody. I was a parent volunteer for many years when my daughter was at Peabody and it's been an absolute delight to be working at the school with our amazing kids and their families. I am looking forward to being not only an Instructional Para but also the Media Specialist this year in the library!

Catie Gambrell - Principal
Before joining Peabody, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles. I began my career in LPS in 2004 serving in a variety of roles including elementary classroom teacher, literacy teacher, GT facilitator, instructional coach, LPS @ Home online instructor, GT interventionist, and dean of students. Most recently, I was the assistant principal for the TOPS Program (Temporary Online Program School) in LPS. In addition to being a dedicated and passionate educator, I am the proud mom to a house full of five LPS students! When my husband Keven and I got married last summer, we became a blended family of seven. Our four oldest children, Elle, Bella, Carter, and Jackson, attend Arapahoe High School and our youngest, Jayse, attends Euclid Middle School. We enjoy going on hikes, being active together, and supporting each other’s hobbies and interests.

Jenn Siriwardana - Art
This is my eleventh year at Peabody and twelfth year teaching Art! I was born and raised in Colorado. I love traveling and exploring the world but I wouldn't live anywhere else. I went to CU Boulder and graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Art History with a minor in Classical Studies and Women & Gender Studies. I got my masters from Regis University in K-12 Art Education. I love to paint, ceramics, reading, sewing, cooking, running, lifting weights, hiking, and gardening. I also love dabbling in various artistic pursuits like collage, jewelry, and digital design. I'm currently exploring and playing around with alcohol inks.
