To continue sharing with you our journey back to China - This trip has been about showing Sarah the country where her story began.
The group we are travelling with gave us the choice to visit places connected to her early life, and Sarah chose to explore that part of her story. We visited the hospital where she was found. The original hospital is gone now, but the staff at the new one were incredibly kind and did everything they could to help us learn more. We didn't find all the answers we were looking for, but we left feeling genuinely cared for.
We were also welcomed back to Sarah's orphanage with so much warmth. They greeted us with a banner, gifts, and a wonderful meal. Sarah also brought gifts for the children and gave some of them out to a group of 3-4 year olds. She played a song on the piano for them and in return, they sang one back to her. It was precious!
There have been moments of joy and gratitude. But more than anything, we've been struck by the kindness we've experienced everywhere we've gone. Despite different languages and different life paths, we found so much that is shared.
We also visited the original orphanage that Sarah stayed in. It is a beautiful place tucked back into what is now a place that seems to be a number of community gardens. A lovely remote space that we all found fascinating.
We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has welcomed us and helped Sarah learn a little more about where her journey began. ❤️
