Meet Alaina Ginter, the artist behind our 2026 Year of the Horse t-shirt design. She is a CCAI adoptee from Hubei Province, China, and a high school senior in South Carolina with a deep love for art, culture, and creative expression. Alongside a full academic schedule, Alaina stays actively involved in school leadership and continues to explore graphic design and photography as creative outlets.
In her own words:
“My name is Alaina Ginter, and I’ve always loved arts and crafts. When I created this design, I wanted it to feel meaningful and layered, with symbolism that speaks quietly but clearly. The design features several traditional Chinese characters deliberately placed on the horse. The character on the horse’s chest, or heart, is love. Near the rump is the character for family, because family supports you whether you’re at a high point in life or at rock bottom. On the stomach and neck are good luck and peace, which are my wishes for the upcoming Lunar New Year. I wanted the overall design to capture the fierce yet graceful nature of a horse, and I was heavily inspired by phoenix imagery and watercolor Chinese floral scroll paintings.”
Proceeds from Alaina’s Year of the Horse t-shirt support adoptee cultural programming at The Park Adoption Community Center.
