Still processing what was truly a transformative experience at the Black Male Educators Capitol Summit in Washington, DC.
The summit opened with a stirring plenary from Shawn Joseph on Critical Consciousness in Mind, setting a bold and reflective tone for the gathering. His message underscored that our leadership must be anchored in clarity, bravery, and a steadfast devotion to the communities we serve. He pushed us to examine our identity, interrogate our leadership, and embrace the profound responsibility we hold as Black male educators in this defining season.
The Colorado Men of Color Collaborative (CMOCC) was privileged to facilitate Recharge & Restore: Men’s Mental Health and Wellness for Educators — a session grounded in restoration, longevity, and authentic brotherhood. The depth of participation, the honesty shared, and the openness in the space reinforced a powerful truth: our well-being is not indulgent — it is indispensable.
