WindyHill Equine Rescue and Rehoming is a rescue organization that specializes in saving horses that for reasons unknown, find themselves in the dire situation of being on kill lot awaiting imminent shipment outside of the US for slaughter. According to the Humane Society, approximately 160,000 horses are shipped through our Mexican and Canadian borders every year to be slaughtered for human consu

mption. We believe that no horse deserves this fate and that all of them deserve a second chance. Many of these horses still have much to offer to a caring owner. Unfortunately, until something changes to eliminate export for slaughter countless horses will face this tragic and horrible death. As a rescue organization we strive to save these horses and work to medically rehabilitate, professionally retrain, and permanently rehome them with loving, responsible owners. Sadly, we are only able to save a tiny fraction of these innocent creatures. The horses that we rescue have gone through quarantine, had their feet trimmed, been vaccinated, wormed, vet checked and treated as needed. Also, and perhaps most importantly, they've been loved on and pampered for their emotional trauma and partially retrained as needed. Our mission is to rescue a lucky few with hopes of finding them loving permanent homes, and to raise awareness of their desperate origins so that we can finally end the cruel and inhumane fate that so many other horses will continue to face.

A message from the REAL WindyHill Equine Rescue and Rehoming.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be vigilant on whose page you are on if you are following WindyHill.
The real WindyHill Equine rescue and Rehoming is META verified! The real Page has a blue checkmark next to our name.

We are currently struggling with an individual or individuals who continues to copy our page in an effort to scam people out of money.
We are currently working with META and the FBI to try to find these people.

But they are very persistent and very convincing. And they are preying on people, who with good intention, want to help a rescued horse.

For example, today I had FIVE people reach out to me that suspected something was wrong because this beautiful rescue was a great price but the scammers wanted 50% down to hold the alleged horse.

Fortunately, four of the Five had not sent any money to these scammers.
Unfortunately, one of them did and he lost $500 that he sent in good Faith for a deposit on this alleged horse that they told him was standing RIGHT HERE on my property in CELINA TEXAS. And then they told him that they never received it and that he needed to send it again.

It makes me very sad that there are such bad people in the world that prey on people’s emotions and that have good intentions.
And It makes me sad and very angry that they are using WindyHill’s good reputation, that we have worked so hard to earn, for their illegal and immoral benefit.

Lastly, please know that we NEVER ask for any money upfront or for deposit.
We only adopt our horses out to the best of homes and only after we know where they are going and have met their new family and they have received our approval.

I MET A NEW FRIEND TODAY!!

But not in the way that I expected…
Here’s how it happened.

A lovely young lady arrived at my gate this evening for an appointment to see a horse. The problem was that I did not have an appointment with anyone to see a horse. But I let her in anyway and she was very nice.

I found out that she had been the victim of someone that tried to sell her a horse online using WindyHill Equine Rescue and Rehoming. Their page looks almost exactly like mine. (Except mine is Meta verified!)
This is the second person this week that I’ve had show up at my gate, looking for a phantom horse.

This young lady, even though she drove almost two hours to get here, was smart enough not to send them a deposit. (Yes they are even using my real address!!) She shared all the details with me from the scammers, and it was very convincing. I’m very grateful that she did not fall for it, but it really makes me wonder how many people do, because they are very persistent.

They continue to use my name and good reputation on Facebook to try to scam money out of people.
As soon as Meta takes their page down, they put up another one. I know this because people are reaching out to me frequently regarding horses that I’ve never heard of.

PLEASE KNOW THAT I WILL NEVER ASK FOR A DEPOSIT ON A HORSE ONLINE!!

WindyHill is not in the business of selling horses, we are in the business of adopting our horses into Loving Forever Homes! And that does not happen until we get to know you, and more importantly, to see if you are a good match for one of our horses.

There’s really nothing I can do except continue to ask Meta to deal with it.
But please be vigilant, there’s a lot of naughty people out there, unfortunately.
And the old adage, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
