Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, let’s remember those we’ve lost and recognize the importance of compassion, education, prevention, and support.

There is no room for judgment when a life is at stake.

25 years on. Still needed. 💜

International Overdose Awareness Day continues to remind us that the work is not over.

For 25 years, this day has provided an opportunity to remember those who have died from overdose, support those affected by substance use, challenge stigma, and encourage communities to take meaningful action.

Today, let’s continue having the conversations that can save lives. Let’s continue educating ourselves, supporting one another, and building communities where people feel safe asking for help.

25 years of remembering. 25 years of raising awareness. And still so much work to do.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we honor the lives lost to overdose, stand with families and loved ones who continue to carry that loss, and recognize the people who are still here.

Remembering is important—but so is action. Education, prevention, access to treatment, and knowing how to respond to an overdose can save lives.

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the people we have lost to overdose and hold close everyone whose life has been forever changed.

Every person lost was someone’s family member, friend, neighbor, or loved one. Their lives mattered. Their stories matter. And remembering them must move us to act.

That means carrying naloxone. Sharing lifesaving information. Challenging stigma. Expanding access to care. Supporting people in recovery. And building communities where no one has to face addiction alone.

Tomorrow also marks the beginning of National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the millions of people living in recovery and recognize the families, peers, advocates, service providers, and community leaders who help make recovery possible.
