The Board of ION Bahamas is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's university scholarships! There were some impressive applicants and we had quite a task selecting the 5 winners!
BREANNA PINDER (grand prize winner):
From Sandy Point, Abaco, The Bahamas, this young scholar's dedication to volunteerism cemented her nod for this year's grand prize of $5,000, which was awarded in recognition of 50 years of independence for The Bahamas, and included a community service requirement.
Breanna is a sophomore, majoring in Accounting at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada. Upon graduation, some of Breanna's goals are to become a business owner and to run her own non-profit organization.
DANYA EVANS:
This junior Dallas native is majoring in Environmental Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
A graduate of Ursaline Academy, Danya is an excellent artist and is a first time recipient of a $2,000 ION scholarship.
AARON TURNQUEST:
Aaron hails from Nassau, Bahamas and has just completed his Advanced Levels in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at Kingswood School in Bath, England.
He will now focus his attention on earning his Bachelors degree in Theoretic Physics at the University of Sussex in England. Aaron is the recipient of a $2,000 scholarship.
KRYSTAL THOMPSON:
This first year medical student from Nassau is pursuing her medical degree from Western Atlantic University School of Medicine and upon completion hopes to serve her community as a physician. Krystal is the recipient of a $2,000 scholarship.
OLICIA SMITH:
Olicia is a multiple year ION scholarship recipient and is a senior at Middle Tennessee State University, majoring in Economics.
Olicia spent this past summer as an intern for Goldman Sachs in Dallas, and will graduate in the Spring of 2024. She is the recipient of a $2,000 scholarship.
