SerenityGate Foundation YOUR LIFELINE IN GRIEF
Touching Hearts
Healing Souls
Changing Lives In October 2006, Susan was diagnosed with stage-three colon cancer.

SerenityGate Foundation, a Florida-based non-profit organization, is co-founded by Susan Binau, Carrie Shak, and Christian Vingaa Poulsen. While facing the possibility of leaving her children behind, she felt an overwhelming need to leave them a legacy. This legacy took the shape of a book, which she began writing three days after her diagnosis, and continued writing as she fought and survived col

on cancer. After witnessing first-hand the lack of support that was available while cancer took the lives of five of her closest friends, and her beloved father, Susan realized how she would spend her second chance at life. For the past seven years, she has been developing resources (self-help books and other tools) for families to use while coping with terminal illness, loss, and grief. SerenityGate Foundation combines this true passion with a business model that has been paying it forward from day one. Our Foundation aims to collaborate with non-profit organizations, hospitals, hospices, and schools nationwide by providing tools and books, which have already been proven to work in Europe. These tools are in hospitals in Denmark, Norway, Faroe Island, and parts of the US, where over 5,000 families have received donations. Now, we are ready to bring the work to our own backyard, and then move forward nationally.
