🐾 Still Searching for Their Forever Ranch (or Couch!) 🐾

Meet Hank and Harry, two 2-year-old McNab brothers with big personalities and even bigger hearts 💙 These handsome herding dogs are still on the lookout for a place to call home.

🎾 Harry is the life of the party! He LOVES chasing balls… so much so that if nobody’s around, he’ll just toss it himself and keep the game going. Independent AND entertaining? That’s talent.

🧸 Hank, on the other hand, believes stuffed toys are meant to be… well… deconstructed. His favorite hobby is tossing them in the air, pouncing like a tiny rodeo bull, and carefully removing every last bit of stuffing. (Toy companies fear him. We admire him.)

Both boys are smart, active, and true to their herding roots. They’ll do best in a home that can give them space to run, play, and put their brains to work.

If you’re ready for loyalty, laughs, and a little bit of lovable chaos, Hank and Harry might just be your perfect match.

Dog laws in Crawford County, Arkansas, for 2026 primarily mandate rabies vaccinations, leash laws in specific municipalities, and containment on private property. Owners are responsible for preventing pets from running at large, with stricter rules for biting or, in some areas, specific breeds. You can find detailed regulations through the Crawford County Sheriff's Office website and local municipal ordinances.
Key Regulations & Resources
Vaccination & Licensing: Rabies vaccination is mandatory by Arkansas state law.
Running at Large: Dogs must be confined on the owner's property or kept on a leash.
Breeds & Restrictions: While county-wide bans are rare, municipal ordinances (e.g., in cities like Van Buren or Alma) may have specific breed restrictions or prohibitions, often focusing on "dangerous dogs".

Stray/Abandoned Animals: It is illegal to abandon pets, and stray dogs may be picked up by animal control.

Where to Find Laws:
County Ordinances: Check the Crawford County Judge's office or the Crawford County Sheriff's Office for specific county-level animal control ordinances.

City Codes: Visit the websites of local municipalities (e.g., Van Buren, Alma, Mulberry) for municipal-specific ordinances on leashes and pet limits.

State Law: Review the Arkansas Code Title 5-62 (Animal Cruelty) and updated 2026 legislation regarding pet safety.

It is recommended to check local city hall websites within Crawford County for the most up-to-date, specific, and local, 2026 animal control regulations.

🚗🐶 Did you know most dogs ride in cars completely unrestrained?

According to data from AAA, American Humane, and veterinary studies, the majority of dogs traveling in vehicles aren’t secured. Unfortunately, that puts them—and everyone in the car—at serious risk during an accident.

📊 A few eye-opening facts:

• Over 80% of dog owners drive with their pets, but only 16% use any type of restraint.
• About 30% of drivers admit their dog distracts them, and 9% say their pet has contributed to an accident.
• In a crash, the force is extreme:
– A 10-lb dog in a 50 mph crash can exert 500 lbs of force.
– An 80-lb dog in a 30 mph crash can exert 2,400 lbs of force.
• More than 100,000 pets are injured in vehicle accidents each year in the U.S.

⚠️ Why restraint matters:

• Projectile risk: Unrestrained pets can be thrown during a crash, injuring themselves and passengers.
• Ejection risk: A broken window or open door can send a dog out of the vehicle.
• Escape risk: Frightened or injured pets often run into traffic after accidents.
• Airbag danger: Small dogs riding in the front seat can be seriously injured or killed by airbags.

✅ Safer travel tips for pets:

• Keep pets restrained in the back seat.
• Use a crash-tested harness, seatbelt attachment, or crate.
• Avoid letting dogs ride in open truck beds.

🐾 We buckle up our kids—our pets deserve that same protection.

A simple restraint can save your dog’s life and help keep everyone in the car safer.

KLAR Year-End Impact Report 🐾

As we close out the year, Kindness Lives Animal Rescue (KLAR) would like to share what we were able to accomplish with the help of our supporters and community.

25 dogs safely transported to rescue and adoptive placements

18 dogs rescued directly by KLAR

6 dogs transported for a partnering rescue

Continued donations of dog and cat food, treats, and toys throughout the year

In December, KLAR provided dog and cat food to 5 families in need, helping keep pets fed and with their families

This year showed us just how great the need is within our community. Our goal for the coming year is to provide pet food assistance to families every month, helping prevent pets from being surrendered simply because families are struggling.

💙 How You Can Help:
Donations allow KLAR to purchase dog and cat food so we can continue — and expand — this outreach. Every contribution makes a difference.

KL Animal Rescue (KLAR) is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Together, we can keep pets fed, families together, and kindness alive.

From all of us at KLAR — thank you for your continued support, and Happy New Year! 🎉🐶🐱

📢 Giving Tuesday: Help Keep Pets with Their Families ❤️

This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking for your help to support low-income and elderly pet owners in our community. Every year many face the heartbreaking choice: feed themselves or care for their pets. We believe no one should have to make that choice — and no pet should be surrendered because of financial hardship.

A simple vet visit for vaccines can easily cost $35–$75.

Spaying or neutering a dog at a vet clinic often runs $250–$650; even pet wellness care adds up quickly.

Yet many seniors and low-income households survive on fixed incomes: for many retirees, Social Security or disability payments are their main source—and it can be a struggle to cover basics after housing, bills, and food.

With your donations we can help:

Provide spay/neuter surgeries, preventing unwanted litters and making lifelong care more manageable.

Cover vaccinations, heartworm and flea prevention, keeping pets safe and healthy.

Supply food and basic pet supplies so families never have to choose between their next meal and their pet’s food bowl.

Your gift today can keep a beloved pet safely at home — with the people they love. Please consider donating this Giving Tuesday 💕

🐾 Fleas Are More Than Just Annoying — They’re Dangerous! 🐾

Most people think fleas are just a nuisance, but these tiny hitchhikers can cause BIG problems for our dogs and cats.

Here’s what those little jumpy troublemakers can do:

🔴 Skin irritation & allergies – Just one flea bite can make some pets break out in painful, itchy rashes.
🔴 Anemia – Heavy infestations literally drain your pet’s blood. Puppies, kittens, seniors, and small pets are especially at risk.
🔴 Tapeworms – Yep… if your pet swallows a flea (and they will), they can get tapeworms.
🔴 Hot spots & infections – Scratching and biting can lead to open sores that get infected fast.
🔴 Constant discomfort – Imagine being itchy 24/7. Fleas make pets miserable.

🐶🐱 If your pet is scratching, biting their skin, or you see little black “flea dirt,” it’s time to act.

👉 Keep pets on monthly flea prevention
👉 Treat your home and yard if needed
👉 Wash bedding regularly
👉 Check new pets or fosters right away

Our furry family members depend on us to keep them safe. Don’t let fleas take over — prevention is SO much easier than treatment!

Feel free to share to help spread the word! ❤️🐾
