Meet another amazing alumni, Madison Greathouse!

This Cedarville alumnus and LPH member has a bachelors degree in Digital Media and is a 2020 graduate.

A few fun things to know about Madison:

- She is currently the Marketing Director for a pro-life non-profit, Cross Roads Pregnancy Care Center.

- Her favorite class at CU was “Screenwriting” as she would eventually love to become a screen writer!

- Her advice for current students: “Building a network of connections starts with your classmates. Be proactive in helping others with their projects and encouraging them to pursue their goals.”

- Fun Fact to know about Madison: “I love reading and writing gothic fiction!”

- Her favorite passage in the Bible is Psalm 23

Meet our next amazing alumni, Sarah Pennington!

This Cedarville alumnus and LPH member has a bachelors in Professional Writing and Information Design, and currently lives in Northern Virginia.

A few fun things to know about Sarah:

- She is currently employed as a print/media assistant at Fairfax United Methodist Church. She handles all of their designed communications, including newsletters, bulletins, Sunday slides, the website, social media graphics, and more. She freelanced for a year before this position, and she currently self-publishes fantasy novels on the side!

- Her favorite class at CU was Marketing Communications. She said, “I loved the creativity involved, I found the topic interesting, and of course the professor (Carrington) is great.”

- Her advice for current students: “It's ok if where you end up or what you want to do now doesn't match up with what you thought you would want when you started the program. God will put you in the right place at the right time for you to grow and thrive!”

- Fun Fact to know about Sarah: “I designed my own book covers for my last three published novels!”

- She loves Isaiah 40 as a whole, but would pick Isaiah 40:28 if she had to chose just one verse.

Meet the first of our amazing alumni, Lydia Jacobsen!

This Cedarville alumnus and LPH member has a bachelors in Strategic Communication and is currently residing in Detroit, Michigan.

A few fun things to know about Lydia:

- She is currently in graduate school at Wayne University for Library Information Science. She aims to work as a librarian in the future and will be graduating in August!

- Her favorite class at CU was, “Organizational Leadership with Dr. Phipps. It was one of my favorites because we learned about leadership and how we can be serving those we’re in charge of. Dr. Phipps had some inspiring stories of how his leadership style influenced his followers and how we can change an organization with our communication.”

- Her advice for current students: “Have fun with the classes! There are so many opportunities to get creative with the paper and presentation assignments. Everything you learn is so practical and you can really make the coursework applicable to what you want to do in the future!”

- Fun Fact to know about Lydia: “In 5th grade, I won a library competition where you have to read like 20 books and answer 100 questions about them. About six years later, I met the librarian that was running that competition at that time. She actually remembered me and hired me for my first library job, which is partly what got me interested in my career!”

- Her favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6

Meet Ellie Sacco!

This current Cedarville student and LPH member is a senior Strategic Communication major from New Hampshire!

A few fun things to know about Ellie:

- She is currently the director of The Inversions — the university’s only acappella group! Her responsibilities include leading rehearsals twice a week, overseeing the responsibilities of other officers, and managing officer meetings. She aims to foster “A welcome environment where everyone has fun while The Inversions members use their talents for God’s glory”.

- Her favorite thing about Cedarville Communication is “How differently everyone communicates. Everyone has experiences and influences that affect the way they talk, both verbally and nonverbally. Since communication cannot be reduced to a simple scientific method, we never stop learning how to communicate with people because everyone is so unique and crafted by God.”

- Her favorite class: “One of my favorite classes I’ve taken was Narrative and Cultural Literacy with Dr. Harris. The class challenged our intuitive ways of thinking about communication with a focus on the art of nonverbals and Burke’s dramatistic pentad. The class positively influenced the way I perceive communication and how I relate to others, as well as how we can analyze film in our current culture.”

- Fun Fact to know about Ellie: “I really love art history but that’s boring so I will also add that one of my hobbies is being insanely good at Guitar Hero. Like, forreal.”

- Her favorite verse is Romans 15:13

Meet Cayla Exilne!

This current Cedarville student and LPH member is an Organizational Communication major from Columbus, Ohio.

A few fun things to know about Cayla:

- She is currently working as an intern with the pregnancy center Heartbeats. In this position she trains consultants on new programs, updates the website, and manages their Facebook account.

- Her favorite thing about Cedarville Communication is “The way that each person can tailor the major through electives to fit their needs!”

- Fun Fact to know about Cayla: “My parents met at Cedarville and my sister will be coming here next year!”

- Her favorite verse is Philippians 2:3-4

Meet Jonathan Sweetman!

This current Cedarville student and LPH member is a Strategic Communication major from North Beach, Maryland.

A few fun things to know about Jonathan:

- He volunteered at 4 Paws for Ability and in January had the opportunity to foster a dog in his own house for a couple of weeks and he also loves playing Intramural basketball!

- His favorite thing about Communication at CU is: “The personal relationships I have developed with my professors. When I have gone through difficult times, my professors have been a constant source of encouragement and support. They teach by example the core concepts of communication. They always carefully consider how to encourage students and have a positive influence on their lives and I have grown so much as a person because of that.”

- His favorite Bible verse is: Joshua 1:9. Because it “Has been a constant encouragement to me as a reminder that God is present at all times and in all places. That is certainly cause to be courageous.”
