Polk County lost an exceptional person last night in Greg Gray that contributed to so much of his time to preserving our local history and documenting the lost and missing cemeteries of our community.

Greg Gray contributed his money and countless hours to get the Polk County Polk County Historical Society and Polk County Cemetery Preservation to where it is today.

When there were only a handful he was there. When organizations, county and city officials would seek information he was the go to and amazingly knowledgeable! Greg’s failing health these past years still would not stop him from serving.

Keep his family in your prayers and the above organizations he was so involved in as he will be missed tremendously.

We want to share an important update about our online presence. Our previous page was managed by a dear member of our community who has since passed away. We honor their dedication to preserving Polk County’s historic cemeteries and are grateful for the work they did to share that mission with all of you.

Since we no longer have access to the original page, we have created this new official page for the Polk County Cemetery Preservation Committee. This will be the place for all updates, event announcements, volunteer opportunities, and stories about our county’s historic burial grounds.
