How do we still have this beautiful boy? A year is too long...

Taken into CARES in August of 2025, Danny came to us as an intact male who was unvaccinated, unsure of people, terrified of crates and confinement, loaded with intestinal worms, had a injured foot, was on the thin side and, sadly, heartworm positive 💔

That was almost a year ago and Danny is such a different dog now! This beautiful red & white Husky mix boy is sweet, friendly and loves going out into our fenced play area to romp and play with the other dogs. He is now leash and crate trained and goes into his crate when asked to. Danny does not chew or bark excessively and isn't really even high energy. Successfully treated for heartworms now, Danny is fully vetted and healthy.

If not already house trained, Danny should house train quickly once put on a regular schedule in his new house.

Danny is 2.5 years old and full grown at 90 pounds. He is a bit over weight though due to crate confinement/lack of exercise during his heartowrm treatment.

Danny would excel in a house with a fenced yard and maybe another little friendly doggy friend (but not required). Danny would also love to find a home with active folks who enjoy hiking and camping as he loves exploring and going for walks.

Adopted as a tiny puppy in 2015, Tinkerbell recently returned to CARES when her owner passed away. "Tink" is now an 11 year old Chihuahua (DOB 6/25/15) and isn't quite sure why her world has been turned upside down. CARES has already invested $500+ in her vet bills and care since taking this tiny 5 pound girl back under our wing.

We are now waiting on the last of Tinkerbell's vet work (more bloodwork, radiographs & dental) to be done and she will be ready for her new forever home 💕

201 days ago we adopted our last dog.

TWO HUNDRED AND ONE DAYS AGO...

September, 2025...

Adoptions have slowed for years. Now they are almost non-existent. Sadly, we cannot continue to save animals if we are unable to place the ones who are already vetted and ready for homes...

We have had to discontinue the Saving Shelter Dogs Program as we are having trouble just managing the ones we already have here.

Donations are down. we have zero outside fosters and adoptions are almost non-existent . WE NEED HELP

On a brighter note, here is Cruiser, a fully vetted purebred Jack Russell Terrier available for adoption through CARES. He is a tri-colored, 11 pound bundle of energy. He gets along well with dogs, enjoys playing in a fenced yard and loves balls. He was born April 30, 2024 so he is almost two years old. Sadly his previous owner passed away unexpectantly so he is looking for a new forever home.
