Milwaukee Light Engineering Society Milwaukee Light Engineering Society is located in Jackson Wisconsin. We are a live steam club that has almost a mile of 7.5" track on 6.5 acres. M.L.E.S.

Welcome to the Milwaukee Light Engineering Society, founded in 1969. is open to all individuals interested in mechanical devices and all phases of their construction. The Society also helps to preserve the history of these mechanical devices, in the construction of small scale operating models. Major areas of interest being in stationary (power-plant) machinery, marine (ships), traction (tractors)

, small hot air & gas engines, and Large scale railroading, such as steam, diesel, and electric locomotives along with rolling stock and other railway equipment. Our society also provides members with fellowship, guidance and a sounding board for ideas and technical problems. There also is an extensive library filled with excellent technical articles. owns 6.5 acres of land called "Railroad Park", in the Town of Jackson, Washington County, WI. There is currently a 1/8 life size, 1 1/2" scale, 7 1/2" track gauge layout at RR Park.

Spring is here; we have had our first workday of the year. Railroad Park weathered the winter very well. Cleanup has begun, raking, cleaning up the leaves, so many leaves, tree branches that have fallen. Lots of track ballast moved today, switches fixed and repaired, the list goes on and on. Summer rides will start later in June. Watch our page for more information.

A member has been hard at work getting his Hudson steam engine finished. This locomotive has needed quite a bit of work. Today it made a trip around it's home rails at the Milwaukee Light Engineering Society located in Cedarburg Wisconsin. It was pulled by my Milwaukee Road S-4. We were not ready for steam yet, however a major milestone was reached by just running it through some tighter curves which we thought might be a problem. During our testing the locomotive moved through the curves without issue, along with the rest of the track. The tender needs a little more work before finished however it is close. Hopefully a fire early next season. Maybe, just maybe it might show up at Railroad Park again. Fingers crossed.

We are looking forward to another fun evening tonight. If you are planning on coming, please take note of the following two items:

Please carpool if possible.

Please do not drop off people at the gate.

Please do not park in the neighbors yards. Our members/staff are allowed to park in the neighbors yard so you will see cars, but this is to maximize our main parking lot space for guests. We would like to stay on the good side with our neighbors.

Railroad Park has dried out and we have repaired track where we needed to from the August rains.
Please join us for our last public train ride day for the summer season which is scheduled for Sunday, September 7 from 11a-4p.
Please be aware that Country Aire Drive (HWY M) is under construction. Use caution when driving on the road. Coming in from the west on Spring Valley Road is also an option.

Come and join us for a ride or two (or as many as you would like!) around our railroad park. Bring along the whole family!
Note: Tickets (wristbands) are $5 per person. You can ride as many times as you'd like. Limited concessions and restrooms are available.
