Friends of Czech Village

Friends of Czech Village Friends of Czech Village is a nonprofit group dedicated to raising funds for and reconstructing the Roundhouse building in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

In 1963 the Riverside Community Building, better known as the Riverside Roundhouse, was opened in Cedar Rapids' Czech Village neighborhood. It quickly became a favorite community location for farmer's markets, recreation, and events. After the Flood of 2008, the Riverside Roundhouse was deconstructed and the materials were put into storage with the intention of later rebuilding. In 2015, small fun

draising efforts were begun by Czech Village Association. Proceeds from neighborhood farmer's market fees were put toward rebuilding the Roundhouse. In 2016, Friends of Czech Village, a separate group with the singular goal of rebuilding this important community gathering place, was formed. Friends of Czech Village is currently working on fundraising efforts and approving a building design. We hope to begin building in 2017 or 2018. The newly-rebuilt Riverside Roundhouse will be a high-quality facility for markets, recreational activities, weddings, parties, and more.
