Over 100 years ago today, the ghost of Helen began haunting Coe College’s campus 👻
On October 19, 1918, three weeks after starting school at Coe, 18-year-old Helen Esther Roberts passed away of Spanish influenza-induced pneumonia. As she lived and died in Voorhees, her parents donated a grandfather clock to the residence hall, which remains there today.
Helen decided to stick around Coe, perhaps to get her college experience. A friendly ghost, she plays fun tricks that include making phone calls, locking students out of rooms and knocking pictures from walls.
Have you ever had a Helen encounter?
