Save CR Heritage Save CR Heritage works to preserve historic resources through education, assistance advocacy & action Save Cedar Rapids Heritage (Save C.R.

Heritage) was formed by a group of citizens in response to the loss of one community treasure, and in an effort to prevent the demolition of another irreplaceable historic building just blocks away. With the mission of assistance, advocacy and action, Save C.R. works to preserve historic resources by developing preservation and reuse strategies, as well as raising awareness of the value of histori

c properties in strengthening our community, conserving resources, fostering economic development and enriching lives. Save Cedar Rapids Heritage is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and governed by a set of elected by-laws. Administration consists of an elected Board of Directors and acting officers. Committees are appointed, active, and report at the monthly membership meetings held the last Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m.

See "The Precious" up close and more of this remarkable home during our Hidden Gems Tour of Homes, this Sunday, June 14! This legendary newel post was rescued from the early-1900s home attached to the Music Loft on First Avenue SE by our volunteers, and repurposed in this late-1800s home in the Mound View Neighborhood by the current owners, who did extensive work to save the house.

The Waterhouse House is one of the main inspirations behind the name of our Hidden Gems Tour of Homes. ❤ Tucked behind magnificent trees on a hillside in the Mound View Neighborhood, the house is the oldest on our tour this Sunday, June 14! The current homeowners have been excellent stewards, and will share some of the fascinating history of the Waterhouse family, along with changes the home has undergone as tour-goers take a look inside. 🤓

Stop by our table at the farmers market at Bever Park from 4-6 p.m. this Wednesday, June 10, near the Old MacDonald's Farm entrance! We'll have a huge assortment of plants: potted red cannas and hosta in lovely planters to set on your porch; native wild ginger to fill those hard-to-grow spots in the shade; ornamental grasses; gorgeous daylilies; heirloom iris; ornamental "flame grass," zinnia & tomato starter plants and more!
