What went down at Camp Wakonda this weekend?
Cho Gun Mun A Nock Lodge #467 Conclave! That's what.
Several new members were inducted. 500-hour volunteer jackets were handed out to Paul and Ben. And we had lots of chances to test wet-weather strategies...and in the middle of it all, a HUGE amount of service that will help Howard H. Cherry Scout Reservation recover from recent storms and continue our long heritage of providing outstanding activity areas right in the middle of Iowa wilderness.

Scouts taking part in Ordeal proceedings and leaders worked to open areas around many young trees and put protective sleeves on them to protect from being eaten. We pushed back and removed invasive species from the forest floor, built new activity games, and it all happened in the spirit of cheerful service.

Thanks to everyone who made this weekend happen. You are deeply appreciated.

The Hawkeye Area Council is excited to announce that we received a grant from 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps to support service opportunities at Camp Wakonda!

The 9-11 Day Foundation organizes the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. In recognition of the 25th anniversary of 9-11, please join us during this OA Conclave weekend (Aug. 29) to provide service to camp and to Do A Good Turn Daily.
