We had no idea! Wow! So grateful😊 I know who we would have voted for! Lol
It’s even more fun when you are chosen and had nothing to do with getting on that list.
Thank you Linn Area Credit Union
We have our winners! The top three nonprofit organizations are: Cedar Valley Humane Society; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids & East Central Iowa; and Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity. They will each receive $1,000. The nonprofits that will get $500 are: Bridge Under the Bridge; Discovery Living; and Time In A Bottle. It’s child hood cancer awareness month!
Our son was 4 foot tall when cancer hit our house.
Treatment as they had planned for us, would have been directed at his pituitary gland.
Christopher would have stayed as tall as he was at 11.
Parents.. please be your own advocate.
We fought for monthly MRI’s and won. Every child is different and every outcome - every treatment. If the cancer had come back after his two surgeries- we would not have had a choice and chemo and radiation would have begun. His cancer was very rare in children and very common in elderly men. After 5 years of that- (and many many appts carrying thick files that got thicker with every appt through U of I) they rebuilt his mouth and he is now almost 35 and close to 6 foot tall.
Trust your parental instincts. Our last MRI he flew home for.. the first things out of his mouth were “so I had cancer .. that could have been really bad”
He always had an amazing attitude- that was the first time it hit me how differently kids handle cancer as well. The fear of mortality doesn’t exist like it does with us adults. We were told all those years ago that it would be for life but protocols change and progress is made- whether we see it or not… and we got the all clear at 21.
That’s our story.. at least the quick version.
Tell us yours!

I’m always pondering who I know that a good book would help. This is a business book that I think can help ANYONE personally on a deep level.
When I think of who to share this good book with..
1. My children
2. My staff
3. Cancer warriors
This book is about being mindful of how far you have come - focus on the Gain.. not the Gap.
Many survivors become over achievers, they have something to prove. Caregivers … survivors … warriors, this book will help me enjoy today and excel tomorrow I hope it does you too!

Time in a Bottle, INC was born in April and unveiled on June 23, 2011. Thank You to all that made it happen and are still making it happen … it is an infant right now and keeping us up at night!
The mission of Time in a Bottle INC is to provide precious “time” to parents that are dealing with the hope and care of their children becoming survivors of not only cancer, but any other life threatening illness that requires multiple hours away from home and family.
Absolutely Clean has given away well over $100,000 dollars in free cleans over the years and we decided to take it to the next level this year when we had to turn children and their families away because we ran out of funds to pay the payroll for these cleans. I, Stephanie, the owner of Absolutely Clean, have made this cause, my passion. I am tired of saying “I’m sorry” so with the birth of Time in a Bottle Inc and the help of many, we will be saying “yes, we can help” … soon!
We see maid services all across the nation joining us on this mission . Once all the details are in motion we will present this to the Association for Residential Cleaning Services International for their help. Baby steps. At this time we need FUNDS to help us with our trademark , website development … all that comes with a nationwide non profit. That is where we stand today and we at Absolutely Clean are cleaning already for Time in a Bottle.
