S.A.I.N.T. Rescue (Saving Animals in Need Today)

S.A.I.N.T. Rescue (Saving Animals in Need Today) SAINT is a cat only rescue located in Cedar Rapids IA. End suffering of cats by reducing unwanted litters through TNR, spay/neuter and adoption services.

SAINT Rescue has been in existence for over 20 years, rescuing and adopting out cats and kittens. All veterinary and medical expenses were funded primarily by our founder for the first 15 years of our existence. SAINTs was formally incorporated and obtained its 501C(3) status in 2010. Donations are necessary and greatly appreciated to help us continue to do our work. All donations are tax deductib

le to the extent allowable by law. All of the animals we take in have been abandoned by someone. We adopt out approximately 350 cats and kittens every year. Unfortunately, more kitties need to be rescued than we can possibly help.

❤️Donations Appreciated❤️

Kitten Percy has been admitted again to Blue Pearl Cedar Rapids. Our tiny little tidbit does not have the strength or reserves of an older kitten, the smallest things affect her in a big way.

Percy underwent an incredible foreign body surgery on Sunday after spending a couple of days at Blue Pearl. Yesterday she stopped eating and became quite dehydrated. That tips the balance very quickly in a kitten, especially one that's only about 4 to 5 weeks old. She was seen by Dr. Loni Ellsworth at North Star Veterinary Clinic in Hiawatha earlier today, who suggested admission to the hospital for dehydration.

The safest place for Percy to be is in a 24-hour specialty hospital. She's on IV fluids and being monitored very closely. Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids has two very high dollar kittens in our medical system right now and we are fully committed to both of the kids. If you are so fortunate to donate to Percy's on going care, we would appreciate it very much! 24/7 Critical Care monitoring can cost approximately $1,000 a day.

Donations can he made on our secure website at CritterCrusadersCR.Org with your choice of financial platforms at the time of checkout.

More to come on Percy's journey to health. We will thank you. ♥️🐾

In a multicat household, competition and intimidation creates stress. Make sure there are adequate resources for everyone. Keep an eye out for signs of intimidation. Aggression between cats can be very subtle.

Today's spotlight is dedicated to these two lovely ladies, Nitro and Glycerin. These babies are about 7 months old. They have been out to a few of our events and have gotten a lot of attention but no one has pulled the trigger on adopting these girls. They can be a bit timid when you first go to say hi, but once you're holding them they melt like a marshmallow over the fire. They do like to play and get along well with the other kitties they interact with, in fact, they often host visitors in their cage overnight. They are bonded and should go together. If these girls seem like the ying to your yang please schedule an appointment to come and meet them!

Many of us attended the Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control open house last night to preview the proposed TNR ordinance change. While we didn’t see the new verbiage, we did see some important bullet points.
Most important, a Community Cat has been defined and we can differentiate it from an owned cat. Currently, if you feed or provide medical care to a cat, it's legally yours. Meaning it falls under the leash law and you can be fined.
Under the new ordinance, a caregiver will not be fined for providing food/shelter or spay/neuter a Community cat.
The proposed amendment will be voted on by the full City Council August 11th. Please contact your council member and ask them to approve the change. Their contact information can be found through this link: https://www.cedar-rapids.org/local_government/city_council/mayor_and_city_council/index.php

Today's spotlight is dedicated to a house favorite. Meet Willa. Willa is approximately 14 years old. She came in to saint after her owner passed. She was then adopted out but returned because her new owner was having allergy issues. Willa is a very sweet lady who asks for pets each time you walk by her. She tends to keep to herself otherwise. There's a good chance she would be a very snuggly girl once she gets into a home. She is also a very big and sturdy girl who seems to be in great shape for her age. If you're willing to give an old lady a chance at a happy life, please schedule a time to come and meet miss Willa.
