Oh hiya, anyone seeing this?
Winter is around the corner meaning I’ll have some time on my hands and during this great resignation I feel like we should bring this back and work to help people find opportunities to not just find a job but to find their vocation.

I think that starts by showing that it is possible in these troubling times to do what you love!
What is your calling? Is there something that gives you a deeper purpose and fulfillment? How do you enact this mission? Share in the comment section below!

Hey Y'all,
As I double down on my annual New Years resolution to create positive change, I really want to remanifest an organic network of citizens engaged around advocacy of all types. My facebook feed used to be filled with volunteer events and articles on innovative sustainability initiatives but now has been poisoned by politics and satire thinly disguised as news, and of coarse, stifled by Covid. I want to break this cycle but need your help! Share some good things you're doing or cool things you see on your feed on this page!

Little update!
Since being evacuated from Uganda and finishing my work with Development in Gardening (DIG), I worked at Echollective Farm and started at Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center as Land Care and Holistic Ecology Coordinator a few months ago.

Treasuring our Trees is a three part series in which our goal is to acknowledge the loss, bless the land, and begin the process of healing, after the Derecho. On January 25th, I will be kicking off a series of 6 free, 40 minute zoom sessions held at different times throughout the week, by posing the question, "Trees: Architects or Architecture?" These sessions are all about going deeper in our understanding of, and sharing our appreciation for, trees.

EcoFest has a number of events that you may want to know about because participation will require preregistration.

One of those events is Stories in Recipes: Heirloom Vegetables and Heritage Breeds
Heirloom plants and heritage livestock breeds tell stories just like your family's recipes do. Stories of how people teamed up with another species and each other forming bonds and growing together over centuries to appease the others tastes."

Join us for a workshop filled with a few tasty bites of food and knowledge, Saturday April 20 at 10:00am at the NewBo Market Kitchen. Rodina Restaurant and New Pi Food Coop are partnering to tell a story of abundance; one where food is not wasted, is grown and procured sustainably and fosters a deeper connection to our community. Chef-Owner of Rodina, Sam Charles will be showcasing his favorite dish, a beautiful half-roasted chicken accompanied by seasonal vegetables utilizing nearly 100% local ingredients found at New Pioneer Food Coop. To register go to linncountyparks.com/events.

Hey FfPC Crew,
It’s been a minute! Spring is upon us and I’d love to get together and talk about volunteer opportunity’s and how to keep engagement high! Does anyone have any upcoming projects that they need help with? I would like to conclude the project with our usual discussion but this sun has me giddy to get to work!
-Ya boi, August

Thought I would share something that brought me great joy and a burst of positive vibes last week. The Feed Iowa First shop is now home to thousands of Seedlings and a few full on indoor plants. These are morningglorys that bloomed only to shrivel the next day growing up a Sunflower (or LED-flower in this case 😉) that’s is nearly 4 feet tall! Every time I walk into the shop I race around observing each plant getting excited over little things like true leaves and above average germination rates but man was this a treat!
