The Safe Place Foundation

The Safe Place Foundation Our mission is to return recovered men to family and community. We are a 40 bed program; 6 Phase One beds and 34 Phase Two beds.

We provide a drug and alcohol free living environment with ongoing staff support, community volunteer involvement and peer-to-peer mentorship. We specifically serve adult males who are homeless or near homeless and in the early stages of recovery from alcoholism or drug addiction. Individuals come to The Safe Place Foundation from a variety of situations including inpatient treatment, a relapse ep

isode, Drug Court, incarceration, or "off the street". We believe it is critical that these men have a longer term structured and monitored sober living environment where they can build a foundation of recovery and life skills.

Patrick came to Safe Place after treatment with almost nothing—no money, no home, and little hope for what came next. More than a year later, his life looks very different. Today, Patrick is sober, active in AA service, and serves as a house manager at Safe Place. Whether he’s keeping an eye on the houses or cooking for new residents, Patrick has found a sense of belonging and purpose through 12 step recovery. His story is what Recovered with Purpose is all about. A few days ago, we shared some of the work completed at Safe Place as we continue making the improvements necessary to meet City code requirements and maintain a safe, sustainable facility for our residents.
At the time, I mentioned that I hadn’t had the foresight to take many “before” pictures. Fortunately, Dustin Titlbach with L&D Construction and Renovations did! Now we can share a better look at just how much has been accomplished.
Dustin has been an incredible partner throughout this process. We’re grateful not only for the quality of his work, but also for his reliability, flexibility, willingness to help, and genuine care for Safe Place and our mission.
As a nonprofit, the financial investment required to complete these improvements has been significant, but maintaining safe, sustainable facilities for the men we serve is an investment we believe is well worth making.

He recently transitioned out of Safe Place and, shortly afterward, earned a promotion at work—another milestone in a life being rebuilt through recovery. Recovery can turn someone from heavily relying on taxpayer-funded resources into a working, tax-paying, contributing member of the community—and often someone who reaches back to help others do the same. A big thank you to Dustin Titlbach and L&D Construction and Renovations!
Over the past several months, we’ve been working hard to complete the repairs and improvements needed to meet our City inspection requirements, and Dustin has been a huge part of getting us across the finish line.
I didn’t have the foresight to take many before pictures, and these photos really don’t do the quality of his work justice. If you click through the pictures, I’ve included descriptions of some of the work that was completed.
As a nonprofit, maintaining and improving our facilities takes a significant investment of time and resources. We’ve been fortunate to combine grant funding, donated materials, volunteers, and great local partners like L&D to make these much-needed improvements.
We’re incredibly grateful to Dustin for the quality of his work, his willingness to help, and everything he has done for Safe Place.
