Hey Chessplayers! Guess what? We're meeting on the roof of the Cedar Rapids Public Library tomorrow! Should be fun. In case of rain we will meet in the Children's Programming Room on the first floor as Whipple is Closed for some maintenance.

Bonus for those of you who hate listening to me talk and give lectures, there will be no projector up there =)

Thirteen year old Irene Fei of Ames, IA stunned third seeded Rachel Li in the final round of US Chess Girls Closed Championship today at the St. Louis Chess Club. Fei was the lowest rated player in the tournament. Li finished tied for second while Fei finished eighth in her first attempt in this prestigious event. Zoey Tang of Oregon won her second consecutive US Chess Girls Closed Championship. Congratulations to Irene for her fine performance and to all ten of these talented chess players!
