Leadership for Five Seasons Adult participants explored the history of Cedar Rapids to include the people, places and events that have shaped our community. History Day gave the class an opportunity to better understand how our city has evolved and how its past continues to influence the region today. Building this understanding is an important part of preparing leaders to help shape what comes next.

The 2027 Leadership for Five Seasons Youth class took a closer look at the history of Cedar Rapids and the experiences that have shaped the community they call home. Throughout History Day, students connected the past with the Cedar Rapids they see today, while learning more about the people and institutions who have contributed to our region. Understanding where our community has been helps these future leaders think more intentionally about where their city could go next.

The 2027 Leadership for Five Seasons Adult class traveled to Hotel Julien in Dubuque to kick off their year with an opportunity to connect, learn and begin building relationships with one another. Through conversations and activities, participants explored their individual leadership styles while beginning to think about what it means to lead within the Cedar Rapids region. This retreat set the foundation for a year of learning about our community and the role each participant may play in its future.

LFS Alumni: Volunteer at Market After Dark
LFS Alumni, you’ve experienced firsthand the value of the relationships, resources, and connections built through the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. Now, we’re inviting you to help strengthen the community that helped shape your leadership journey.

Join fellow community-minded volunteers at Market After Dark on Saturday, August 29, and help check IDs from 7:30–10 p.m. It’s a simple but important role—and a great way to give back and support one of Cedar Rapids’ signature events.

Email Dusty at [email protected] to volunteer. And yes, you just might get a jazzy tee!
