Paying tribute tonight to an amazing soul. Calla R Blake. Calla passed away Sunday, April 26th 2026. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 3rd 3:00 PM at the Field House in Cedar Rapids.

Calla along with her husband Jimmy Blake were founding members of SaPaDaPaSo. Her love of Irish culture, art and music touched many in the community. Calla helped design several of the early SaPaDaPaSo shirts taking inspiration from the Book of Kells. She was the organizer behind the scenes. She and Jimmy hosted Irish musicians into their homes for epic house parties (aka Hooley's) she was the ultimate hostess. Calla curated various photos, news articles & memorbilia creating the first SaPaDaPaSo history books that are still used today when SaPaDaPaSo attends cultural awareness events. We will remember her as vibrant, engaging and curious. A true champion of Irish culture and the belief in giving back to the community. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by SaPaDaPaSo and all that knew her.
