First off, I'm not your typical school board candidate, if there is such a thing. I am a creature of habit with a bit of social anxiety (so being in a group of people I don't know can be a little nerve wracking.) At the same time, in my professional life I've learned to be a successful disrupter of the status quo. With each "no" I've heard since my first job helping Iowa companies diverting materi

als from local landfills, I've gotten a little stronger, a little smarter and a little better at regrouping for another go. Running for the Cedar Rapids Community School District is no different. I'm motivated by a concern for the financial future of our vulnerable populations, a proven lack of educational equity within the CRCSD, and school board members who are dead set on a path to more of the same.
