Our Mission:
"To be a local mission that glorifies God by providing high-quality faith-based preschool education and care for children living in adversity in Wellington Heights." We are currently in need of fervent prayer for wisdom and discernment and for financial donations to remodel our 1916 building so that we can bring SonShine to fruition. SonShine was founded to be a local mission to help
meet this critical and unmet need, specifically in Wellington Heights, an under resourced neighborhood in Cedar Rapids, IA. SonShine will accept all qualifying children and will not discriminate on the basis religion, race, color, gender, national or ethnic origin, nor any other classification. Children will qualify by age; their family qualifying for Child Care Assistance block grants and have full-time work/job skills training/schooling; and families agreeing to partner with SonShine in the education and care of their children. Primary funding will come from Child Care Assistance block grants and private donations. We are a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization and governed by a Board of Directors. There is no other program like SonShine in our community and while we know it's a huge undertaking, our faith is in our BIG and mighty God and we trust in his provision! God has already blessed us with so many people and churches who have donated enough in-kind donations to fully equip two classrooms AND a children's library of well over 2,000 books! We've also been blessed by people who have supported us financially which has helped pay for two new furnaces and the utilities /bills until we have the funds for the remodel/build. Please prayerfully consider a partnership with SonShine where you can see your mission dollars at work right here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa! With your help, we can bring true and lasting HOPE FOR TODAY, TOMORROW, AND ETERNITY for children and families who need it the most!
