On June 10, 2026, a Williamson County jury found Caleb Comer guilty of Murder in connection with the fentanyl poisoning death of 18-year-old Cedar Park resident Matthew Wright. On June 12, 2026, Comer was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
The conviction stems from a Cedar Park Police Department Organized Crime Unit investigation that began after Wright was found deceased in his home in May 2024. Detectives determined Comer sold Wright fentanyl just hours before his death. An autopsy later confirmed fatal levels of fentanyl in Wright’s system.
Comer was arrested in July 2024 on a Murder warrant. His conviction and sentencing mark the conclusion of a joint effort between Cedar Park Police detectives and the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office to hold accountable those who distribute deadly narcotics in our community.
“This case sends a clear message to those who distribute illegal drugs, especially those whose actions result in the death of another person, that you will be held accountable,” said Cedar Park Police Chief Mike Harmon. “While no sentence can undo this tragic loss, we remain committed to aggressively investigating these crimes and protecting our community.”
The Cedar Park Police Department also recognizes the Wright family for their strength and support throughout this process.
