Heroes Resource Center

Heroes Resource Center Wes and Judy Pierce married in April of 1987. Both were blessed with children from previous marriages, Judy having three children and Wes having one.

Heroes Resource Center is a non-profit community-based organization that is dedicated to providing resources and services to Veterans, Service Members, and their families in a safe, family-friendly environment. They wanted to have children together but discovered that God had a different plan. "We believe in family and measure our success by the positive effect that we have on others." Discovering

that they could not have children they considered adoption. They eventually adopted eight children ( 6 boys and 2 girls) seven children considered "special needs" "The only needs we knew that these children had was the need for a family". Putting family first they sold their home and business in 1995 and moved to Long Beach, MS. to be by Wes's brothers in an effort to establish the sense of family for the children. In 1998 hurricane Georges hit the coast and the Pierce Family lost their home and all their belongings. "We were blessed, our family was intact". In 2001 the Pierce family packed up and moved to Texas and in 2004 they met Sgt Michael Clark of the US Army. Sgt Clark was attempting to recruit one of the Pierce boys, Tim Pierce. Sgt Clark explained the opportunities that the Army had to offer and being part of a military family. Not only did Tim enlist in the Army but so did two of his brothers,Troy and Jeremy. Having three sons enlisted in the Army, Wes and Judy Pierce received a Certificate of Appreciation from the US Army Recruiting Battalion "In recognition for your families outstanding contribution of service to the United States Army" It was then that we realized we were part of a bigger family, we were a military family and had a bigger family to serve. In 2008 Sgt Clark was wounded while serving in Iraq. He eventually was admitted to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Tx where his left leg was amputated after several surgeries. The Pierce's made several trips to BAMC to visit Sgt Clark and other wounded heroes. "We knew that we had been called to serve a bigger cause and had to do something to help these heroes and their families." Thus the creation of Heroes Night Out. Wes and Judy Pierce founded Heroes Night Out to give these families a break from the everyday routine of surgery, therapy and rehabilitation. They discovered the need after visiting BAMC and talking to the families who now reside at the Fisher House. "They just need a break from the every day routine, a night out."
