CPO 1 Your CPO is a great opportunity for citizen involvement. We help people understand the issues that shape the community and how they can make a difference.

Open to everyone in Cedar Hills, Cedar Mill, and Bonny Slope. The CPO is supported by Washington County and coordinated by the County Administrative Office. CPO 1 meets on the second Tuesday each month, currently online via Zoom. At each meeting those attending are invited to make announcements or bring up new topics for CPO attention. Announcements can be made by whoever shows up and has bit to s

ay. All residents and business owners in cities and unincorporated county areas are welcome and encouraged to participate in their CPO.

Have you ever found information or help from your former CPO? Learned about development in the community, heard from the Sheriff with local updates, connected with neighbors over problems or issues, or learned about ways to find information or beinvolved with Washington County (it's our only local government) ?
Now is the time to let the Powers That Be about your preferences and needs.
Clue: most of us are in Commissioner District 2.

Share your input by July 31! The County’s Office of Access and Opportunity is gathering community feedback to help shape new district‑aligned community engagement models. We want to hear directly from community members about what these future groups should focus on and how they can better serve Washington County neighborhoods.

UPDATE: After hearing the LUT presentation and testimony from the public, the PC decided they need answers to the many questions that came up. They voted unanimously to continute the discussion to their next meeting on August 5. They also want to hear from OAO because many of the questions concerned what OAO would be doing for community involvement. Good News!

IMPORTANT!
We urge you to attend the Planning Commission hearing this evening at 6:30 pm on Ordinance 915, getting rid of the CPO system and determining the future of community involvement.

It's a zoom webinar and you can find the zoom link here.

Now's the time to prevent blossom-end rot. 🍅

As the weather heats up, tomato plants grow fast... and that means they need more water and calcium. When soil moisture swings between too wet and too dry, plants can struggle to move enough calcium to developing fruit.

A few things you can do now:
• Water consistently, especially during hot weather.
• Avoid over-fertilizing
• Apply mulch around your plants to reduce moisture swings.

Fruit that already have blossom-end rot won't recover, but with consistent care, the plants can still develop fruit normally in the future.

Have you noticed blossom-end rot in your garden? Comment to tell us how you prevent blossom-end rot in your tomatoes!

CPO 1 email list
Wednesday, July 1: you may have received an email from Community Engagement about disclosure of information.
The leaders of the former CPO 1 Community Involvement Organization have filed a Public Information Request asking for the list of emails of people who signed up to get CPO information.
What we intend to do is first send an "opt-out" email just asking who wants to continue to get information from your former leaders. Once we remove anyone who doesn't want messages, we will just send out one or two emails a month to let neighbors know about what's going on in the area.
You'll find more information about the current state of community participation in Washington Countyhere:

Today! Work session will hear from staff about (lack of) plans for the future of public participation. According to the presentation, (link below) after 4+ years they are still talking about method, not outcomes. In any case, we will at least be able to see and hear th discussion. Link to zoom in the comments.
