Sometimes healing looks like community.
It looks like being seen, heard, and reminded that you do not have to carry everything alone. ๐Ÿ’š

North Texas, meet your 2027 Social Innovation Accelerator cohort. ๐Ÿ’™

Eight visionary social entrepreneurs. Eight bold ideas. All working to improve education, income and health right here in our community.

This yearโ€™s fellows are addressing some of the most urgent needs facing North Texas families, from paternal postpartum depression and financial literacy to food rescue technology, STEM education for girls and economic mobility through driverโ€™s license access.

Meet the 2027 cohort:
๐ŸŒŸ Kalvin Bridgewater โ€” Daddy Stroller Social Club
๐ŸŒŸ Kimberly Brown โ€” Snugs and Kisses
๐ŸŒŸ Dominique Johnson โ€” A Mindful Resource
๐ŸŒŸ Von Minor โ€” South Dallas Driving Academy
๐ŸŒŸ Shelby Patrice โ€” Budget University
๐ŸŒŸ Brian Reynolds โ€” First Team
๐ŸŒŸ David Stenson โ€” Eetz Rescue
๐ŸŒŸ Kristen Wells-Collins โ€” Black to the Lab

Since 2013, the Accelerator has supported 113 local social entrepreneurs who have raised $83.2 million and served more than 579,000 North Texans. We cannot wait to see what this cohort builds next.

Iโ€™m about to walk into the ER for another shift.

And every time I walk through these doors, Iโ€™m reminded that crisis doesnโ€™t always start here.

Sometimes it starts weeks, months, or years before somebody ever makes it to an emergency room.

It starts with grief nobody talked about.
Mental health struggles somebody learned to hide.
Addiction somebody was ashamed to ask for help with.
A family trying to figure out what to do before itโ€™s too late.

Thatโ€™s why Still Here: A Night of Awareness means so much to me.

On Monday, August 31, weโ€™re coming together in West Dallas to remember the people weโ€™ve lost to overdose, su***de, and silence, while reminding the people who are still here that their story isnโ€™t over.

This isnโ€™t just another event.

Itโ€™s remembrance.
Itโ€™s conversation.
Itโ€™s community.
Itโ€™s learning how to respond before somebody reaches their breaking point.

Come sit with us. Bring somebody with you. Add a name to our Memory Wall.

Thanks United Way of Metropolitan Dallas for the opportunity! Weโ€™re walking into this experience ready to learn, sharpen, build, and grow.

For A Mindful Resource Inc., this accelerator is about more than developing a stronger program. We plan to use this opportunity to:

โ€ข Strengthen the infrastructure behind Bro Chillโ„ข
โ€ข Build a sustainable model that can grow beyond one neighborhood
โ€ข Get clearer about how we measure and communicate our impact
โ€ข Strengthen our fundraising, partnerships, operations, and leadership
โ€ข Learn alongside other social innovators doing meaningful work across Dallas
โ€ข Turn the work our community already trusts into a model that can reach even more Black men and families

We already know the need exists. Weโ€™ve seen what happens when people are given a space where they feel seen, safe, and supported.

Now itโ€™s time to build the systems, strategy, and capacity to take that impact further.

Weโ€™re coming into the Accelerator ready to be challenged, ready to learn, and ready to leave stronger than we entered.

Not therapy first. Trust first. Care Before Crisisโ„ข.

This night is for the names we still say.
For the families carrying loss.
For the people still fighting.
For the people who almost didnโ€™t make it.
And for every person who needs to know that their life still matters.

Together, we will honor lives impacted by overdose, su***de, grief, and mental health struggles through remembrance, community testimony, a candlelight moment, the reading of names from our Memory Wall, live music, overdose education, Narcan training, and connection to resources.

We remember. We recover. We rise.

Bring your family. Bring a friend. Bring a name you want remembered. Come as you are.

This is more than an event. It is our community saying:

We see you. We remember you. We are STILL HERE.

Presented by A Mindful Resource Inc. as the opening night of Still Here: 20 Days of Care.

Join us for a powerful evening of remembrance, hope, Narcan training, and community healing. Free and open to everyone.

What started as a pilot is becoming a brotherhood. ๐Ÿ–ค

Bro Chillโ„ข is creating something Black men deserve more of: a space where we can show up without the mask, move past the surface, talk about what weโ€™ve carried, and build healthier ways to cope.

A space where a brother can say, โ€œI feel that too.โ€

A space where your story might be exactly what another brother needs to hear.

This is more than conversation.

Itโ€™s connection.
Itโ€™s accountability.
Itโ€™s brotherhood.
Itโ€™s healing.

And here in Dallas, weโ€™re just getting started.

This is Bro Chillโ„ข.
