Protect Your Tax Data. Protect Your Business.
The IRS is reminding taxpayers, tax professionals, and businesses that simple cybersecurity habits can make a big difference in protecting sensitive tax and financial information.
Here are a few important steps to make part of your everyday routine:
🔒 Use strong, unique passwords
🛡️ Turn on multifactor authentication (MFA)
💻 Keep software and devices updated
🚨 Be alert for phishing emails, texts, and calls
📁 Secure and back up your tax records
📶 Avoid public Wi-Fi for sensitive accounts
✅ Verify requests for payments or employee information through a trusted channel
🚨 WATCH OUT FOR TAX SCAMS
Scammers may impersonate the IRS through email, text messages, phone calls, social media, or fake websites. Don't click unexpected links, open suspicious attachments, or provide sensitive information in response to an unsolicited message.
The IRS reminds taxpayers that it does not initiate contact through social media and generally contacts taxpayers by mail first.
📌 For tax professionals: Protecting client information is not optional. Federal law requires tax and accounting professionals to create and maintain a Written Information Security Plan (WISP).

I’m pretty sure most of us have seen the YouTube video circulating on social media, so let’s TALK ABOUT IT. 👀

When you’ve spent years building your brand, your business, your name, and your legacy, it can be incredibly frustrating when someone decides to create a narrative that isn’t rooted in truth—especially when that narrative involves lies, accusations, or attempts to damage your reputation.

But here’s the question:

How do you stop the lies without allowing them to stop your purpose?

You protect your peace and you protect what you’ve built.

You don’t have to respond to every accusation.
You don’t have to argue with every person.
You don’t have to chase down every rumor.
And you certainly don’t have to become someone you’re not just because someone else chose to misrepresent you.

Sometimes the most powerful response is truth, documentation, boundaries, and consistency.

Address what needs to be addressed.
Correct what needs to be corrected.
Protect yourself where necessary.
And then… keep building.

Because your legacy cannot depend on whether everyone understands you, agrees with you, or believes someone else's version of your story.

Let your character speak.
Let your work speak.
Let your consistency speak.
Let time reveal what words cannot.

Dr. Shonda Love and The Association of Black Tax Professionals, through Chadd Black Client Communications, are issuing this press release to address recent slander and untrue defamation circulated on social media platforms, including “YouTube,” targeting Dr. Shonda Love personally and disparaging her character as well as her self-made, self-built brand.

These posts contain statements presented as fact while lacking verification and integrity. Dr. Shonda Love has built her brand through consistent work, ethical leadership, and legal compliance. ABTP is grounded in professional standards, and accountability.

“We will not allow false narratives to overshadow truth, hard work, and the lawful foundation upon which our brand has been built,”

said Dr. Shonda Love.

“Dr. Shonda Love’s reputation and The Association of Black Tax Professionals are the result of dedication, lawful practice, and moral integrity—not rumors, attacks, or social media conjecture.”

Dr. Shonda Love and ABTP emphasize that their brand and professional practices are built on and maintained through legal standards and integrity from a moral standpoint. Any content attempting to undermine that foundation is both harmful and inappropriate—especially when it includes claims that are inaccurate, misleading, and designed to provoke public distrust.
