Partisanship vs the law is now at issue within the NC judicial court system thanks to a GOP bill that was passed on a party line vote in both chambers of the GOP majority legislature. Elections matter. Judicial races are on the ballot. Anita Earls is running for re-election to the state supreme court. She is one of just two Democrat state supreme court justices on a bench of seven. Make sure to finish the ballot in the midterms to send Anita Earls back to the bench.

NC Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Newby would be allowed to suspend other judges without pay, even without any finding of wrongdoing, under a new bill that’s now up to Gov. Josh Stein to act on.
