It's been a few weeks since we posted some club activity. We are in the heart of our Kettle Corn popping season - some for area schools and some to raise money for our club.

We have also had some outstanding speakers. A member of the Waterloo Exchange Club talked about their involvement with AFIL and creating a Memorial Day Flag presentation.

Jennifer Bainbridge from Re/Max Realty talked with us about the challenges of the real estate market.

Cory Hurless, from the Hearst Center for the Arts, brought information about their summer programs.

Our own Bob Dickinson shared a historical perspective on time pieces and what makes them Tick Tock.

At our meeting today, we heard from the business "Restore Independent Mobility, Inc. Their purpose is to put "affordable power of mobility under the people that need it for their own independence and well-being."
They restore electric wheelchairs and scooters and get them to people who need them in order to stay independent.
You can learn more about their work on their website:

On Saturday, December 6, our Kiwanis Rough Risers club partnered with the Cedar Valley JayCees to engage youth in Giving to Others - and it was a SUCCESS!

The Gift of Giving event is an annual event where we can provide elementary school children with the opportunity (and funds) to purchase Christmas gifts for their family members.

Early in the morning, over 60 children gather at a local UAW center, where they are paired with adult volunteers. Together, they travel to Blain’s Farm & Fleet, where each child is given a $45 shopping credit to buy gifts. After shopping, they return to the UAW center to wrap their presents, enjoy breakfast, and meet with our magical Santa.

This heartwarming event creates lasting memories for all involved.
