UNI 4 Kids

UNI 4 Kids is a nonprofit student led organization that works to mentor and help kids in the Cedar Valley.

The positive impact of participation in extracurricular activities for young individuals cannot be overstated. Participation in extracurricular programs highly correlates with improved academic success, positive behavior, and higher self-esteem, all which increase graduation rate. Unfortunately, due to various difficult financial situations, many youth throughout the Cedar Valley are unable to par

ticipate in any extracurricular activities. Through partnering with caring community member and engaged area business leaders, along with hosting numerous fundraising events throughout the year, we intend to provide area youth with need-based scholarships in order to fund their participation in an activity of their choice. 100% of our donations will be used to fund amazing projects such as a new AAU basketball team, Youth Sports Foundation athletic fees, dance or music lessons, and many more. We work closely with the Cedar Valley Boys & Girls Club, Youth Sports Foundation of Iowa, and the Waterloo & Cedar Falls school districts, to identify area kids who will most profoundly benefit from our support. UNI 4 Kids is a non-exclusive program; we will also be working closely with Inclusion Connection of Waverly to identify area children with disabilities interested in getting involved. Our objective is to not simply support kids financially, but also provide ongoing mentorship and support year after year in order to ensure our kids have every opportunity to remain involved. With the help of UNI athletes and students, we will host many interactive skill development camps and mentorship activities for our participants.

Today is the day! Donate your clothes to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley and put your clothes in the boxes by the Student Involvement Center in Maucker Union! Boxes will be there through Dec. 4.

Boxes will be located by the Student Involvement Center in the Maucker Union Nov 30 - Dec 4.

All clothes will be donated the Cedar Valley Boys and Girls Club.

This is the week to be thankful and enjoy families. However, there are some families that are in need at this time of year and we have a way for friends and family to get involved and give back.

There will be a clothing drive Nov 30 - Dec 4. All clothes will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of the Cedar Valley!

After Thanksgiving we will be having a clothing drive where all clothes will go to the Boys & Girls Club! We will be taking donations 11/30-12/04.

The donation box will be in Maucker Union by the Student Involvement Center! We are looking for mostly Winter clothing.

So when you go home for your break, bring back some old clothes for a good cause and make a difference in a life!

"Every time I walk into the Boys & Girls Club, I feel welcomed and all the kids know my name. When I volunteer I know I'm making a difference as a mentor. Each kids has the opportunity to make a difference and I feel grateful to be a part of an organization that supports this cause."

Late post, but the Halloween run at The Runner's Flat was a great way to bring in Fall! We had a lot of fun volunteering and loved seeing the kids participate.

Our member of the week is Dana! Dana is a frequent volunteer at the Boy's & Girl's Club
Dana says, "My favorite moments are when I get pictures colored for me or when kids want to sit on my lap or have me help them read or do their homework. I work with K-2 most of the time so we work on their words and reading a lot. I love how they look up to me because that makes me feel like I'm doing something right! I don't actually mentor anyone but a little girl does call me her mentor so I'm looking into being her mentor, but I hope she follows her dreams when she gets older because I know she'll have lots of them as she is a smart and intelligent girl!"

This is Ryan! He is our member of the week!
Ryan is a junior at UNI majoring in business administration. He joined UNI 4 Kids because he wants everyone to have an equal chance at success and because kids are the future, they deserve a chance to succeed. Shout out to Ryan!
