Our 13th recruiter of the week is Emma Judge!!

Emma is a Junior at UNI majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in TESOL. This is her 2nd year in the program and she has traveled to Oahu, Hawaii.

We asked Emma the following questions:

What skills have you developed throughout your journey with Camp Adventure?
- "The skills I have developed in this program are communication skills with talking to kids and just learning how to be a better leader. I have been blessed to meet many diverse people and get to know and work with amazing kids."

What doors have been opened by being in Camp A and how has this impacted your future?
- "With having a minor in TESOL I love getting to see different cultures and meet knew people so I can better understand how to help teach. Camp A gives me the opportunity to work towards my dream as a teacher so when I have my own classroom I’ll be prepared to handle the outcomes."

What is your favorite quote or memory from a child?
- "My favorite memory from this last summer was walking into my classroom around breakfast time and my pretoddlers looking up at me. They would then have the biggest smiles and come running up to me to give me a hug."

Our 12th recruiter of the week is Ashlin Hayungs!!

Ashlin is a Senior at UNI majoring in TESOL-Teaching with French and Psychology endorsements. This is her 2nd year in the program and she has traveled to Tokyo, Japan.

We asked Ashlin the following questions:

What skills have you developed throughout your journey with Camp Adventure?
- "Through Camp Adventure, I have been able to develop important communication skills, specifically with diverse groups of people. I have been very fortunate to be able to talk with people of all ages and many different backgrounds."

What doors have been opened by being in Camp A and how has this impacted your future?
- "As a TESOL-Teaching major, the opportunity to work with children, their families, and their communities around the world is invaluable. Camp A has helped me, a small town Iowa girl, reach far outside my own community and I can apply that to my future role as an educator."

What is your favorite quote or memory from a child?
- "My favorite quote from a child comes from when a 5 year old was standing off to the side dancing. When I asked him what he was up to he just said, 'Shake your b***y and be happy!'"

Our 11th recruiter of the week is Shawna Nguyen!!

Shawna is a Junior at UNI majoring in Anthropology with a minor in Public History. This is her 2nd year in the program and she has traveled to Tokyo, Japan.

We asked Shawna the following questions:

What skills have you developed throughout your journey with Camp Adventure?
- "A skill that I have learned is how to really talk to children and understand what they are feeling."

What doors have been opened by being in Camp A and how has this impacted your future?
- "An opportunity that I am currently pursuing because of Camp Adventure is a Non-Profit Certificate. Camp Adventure was able to show me what a non-profit organization is really about and what it can mean to a community."

What is your favorite quote or memory from a child?
- "My favorite memory is when I was having all my kids sign one of my Camp A t-shirts. One of them told me to close my eyes and wait to open them until he told me so. I waited and once he told me to open them, he was wearing my Camp A t-shirt with a goofy grin on his face. That moment made me cry pretty hard."

Our 10th recruiter of the week is Autumn Ge**er!!

Autumn is a Junior at UNI double majoring in Elementary and Middle Level Education. This is her 3rd year in the program and she has traveled to Naples, Italy and Garmisch, Germany.

We asked Autumn the following questions:

What skills have you developed throughout your journey with Camp Adventure?
- "Through Camp Adventure I have learned how to work as a part of a team, as well as, individually. I have also learned how to use my creativity and how to be a leader."

What doors have been opened by being in Camp A and how has this impacted your future?
- "Camp has given me so much experience with children and parents. In my summers I have interacted with children and parents from all walks of life. As a future teacher, these experiences impact me in my everyday work life and will remind me to keep an open mind."

What is your favorite quote or memory from a child?
- "My favorite moment from this summer is seeing one of my infants turn over for the first time about halfway through my summer. It was amazing to see this milestone and to be able to see how quickly he started rolling after turning over just one time."

Our 9th recruiter of the week is Lauren Calkins!!

Lauren is a Sophomore at UNI majoring in Elementary Education. This is her 2nd year in the program and she has traveled to Oahu, Hawaii.

We asked Lauren the following questions:

What skills have you developed throughout your journey with Camp Adventure?
- "Throughout my journey with Camp Adventure, I have developed lifelong skills like communicating effectively and becoming a better leader. It has challenged me and has made me a better overall person!"

What doors have been opened by being in Camp A and how has this impacted your future?
- "Camp Adventure has opened many doors for me by allowing myself to branch out of my comfort zone and meet new people. Camp A has also validated my future profession as a teacher. This program gave me a lot of classroom experience and helped me determine what kind of teacher I would like to be someday."

What is your favorite quote or memory from a child?
- "My favorite memory from this summer was getting absolutely soaked during water-play by all my preschoolers!"

Our 8th recruiter of the week is Tatyana Reed!!

Tatyana is a Junior at UNI double majoring in Elementary and Middle Level Education. This is her 3rd year in the program and she has traveled to Iwakuni, Japan, Stuttgart Germany, and Oahu, Hawaii.
We asked Tatyana the following questions:

What skills have you developed throughout your journey with Camp Adventure?
- "I have developed leadership skills, behavior management skills and bettered my relationship skills to make long lasting connections with my kiddos throughout the summer"

What doors have been opened by being in Camp A and how has this impacted your future?
- "Camp Adventure has taught me how important my role is to these children wherever I go. Especially with being a future educator it's helped me realize the kind of teacher I want to be and the impact I have on all the children I meet."

What is your favorite quote or memory from a child?
- "My favorite memory with a child is when I was in Stuttgart over Christmas break and we got moved to another CDC for New Year's Eve. I was sad because one of my favorite kiddos was going on vacation so I wasn't going to see her again after that day. That was until I got moved into the toddler room at naptime and she was napping, but as soon as she woke up, she ran over to me and gave me the biggest hug."
