At The Dogslanding House we provide safety, structure, and care so every dog has the chance to heal, grow, and find their family. The Dogslanding House is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to create a bridge between overflowing Texas shelters and rescues and forever homes! We provide intensive training rehabilitation programs, medical treatment, and a loving caring environment. Our goal is to prepare dogs in need with a strong foundation and pair them with loving families. We are determined to lower the euthanasia statistics in central Texas and make a positive impact on the current shelter and rescue crisis!

The Every Day Canine is hosting a Howl-O-Ween event where there will be a costume contest, prizes, training tips and demonstrations, spooky games, AND we will be supplying the adoptable rescue dogs 🐾

CLIFFORD UPDATES! 🚨🐾

Good news: Clifford is the sweetest boy ever. He has integrated seamlessly into our rescue facility. Clifford has loved every dog he’s met so far and adores every human as well. He has a heart of gold! His first week inside, he slept sooo much, and he’s been very hungry too! He’s having a great time catching up on eating, sleeping, and just being a dog for once. He is starting to put more weight on his hind leg and still doesn’t seem to be in any pain.

Bad news: Clifford tested positive for heartworms at his first vet appointment. We were honestly expecting this due to the number of fleas we found on him… it was clear he hasn’t been on preventatives anytime recently. He has already started his 30 days of doxycycline and will need heartworm treatment at the end of the month. As you guys know, he was also found with a bad back leg. He is getting that fully examined this Friday at a full-service vet where they can assess it further. We will keep you posted on the total cost of his care recommendations after his appointment on Friday.

We are still working toward our goal of raising $10,000 to keep Dogslanding open and move to a property that can accommodate more dogs. If you’ve been following along, you know our current property is limited to about 10 rescue dogs on site, and we’ve faced many structural issues like repeated AC failures, power outages, water line leaks on the property, and even mold in the main home where the humans and resident dogs live. We have raised about $4,000 so far, so we’ve relaunched this fundraiser with the remaining $6,000 goal to get us over the finish line. We greatly appreciate your help.

The hard sleep at the end 😭😭 Clifford is exhausted! But happy to have those fleas removed, and nice bug meal.

Guys, I don’t know if we can bare taking this one to the shelter. He will likely be euthanized there.

Clifford has an injured back leg that he doesn’t put weight on. It looks like an old injury and he could very well need surgery or even an amputation. Thankfully he doesn’t seem to be in any pain but it definitely would need to be addressed.

Dogslanding is over capacity and we are still fighting for funding. When we saw him at the gas station in this condition, we couldn’t leave him to get hit by a car and had already fully accepted that we would likely need to bring him to the shelter.

If you also don’t want us to bring him there, please consider helping by applying to foster, adopt, or donating so we can keep him and fix up his leg and get him adopted. Clifford has a very sweet temperament and his teeth are super white, he seems like a young dog that has been neglected outdoors his whole life.

Our rescue coordinator Devin found ‘Clifford’ at the store closest to our rescue facility today on her way into work. 😢

She knew he would get hit by a car and couldn’t leave him in that state. He has a back leg he won’t put weight on, likely an old untreated injury, but he doesn’t seem to be in immediate pain. We already scrubbed off his many fleas and started him on preventatives.

Devin is willing to take him to the shelter if needed since we are full and closed on intake. Rescue doesn’t stop, even when we desperately need a break.

What should we do?

If we get enough fosters and continue fundraising, we may be able to pull this off.

If we take this guy to the Bastrop County shelter, it’s likely he will be humanely euthanized at drop off.

Dogslanding needs your help to stay open.

We are facing critical challenges right now and are at serious risk of closing our doors if we cannot turn things around. Our initial goal is raising $10,000, but that is only the beginning of what it will take to secure our future.

We are currently fighting through three major hurdles:

1. We must find and transition to a new location.
2. We lost our transport van and urgently need a replacement vehicle.
3. We are experiencing a severe shortage of foster homes and essential resources.

Giving up is NOT an option for us. The dogs depending on us need us to keep fighting.

So far, our community has helped us raise around $2,500 toward our $10,000 goal. Almost every dollar of those funds went straight to covering unpaid vet bills and securing critical upcoming veterinary care for the rescue dogs currently in our care.

While we are deeply grateful to have food stocked from our recent donation drive, food remains a constant recurring expense that quickly drains our funds.
