Be The One

Today, the No. 1 issue facing the veteran community is su***de. The mission of The American Legion's Be The One initiative is to reduce the rate of veteran su***de. We're actively working on lessening the stigma associated with mental health treatment and empowering everyone to take appropriate action when a veteran or service member may be at risk – one life at a time.
Whether you're a veteran or the friend or family-member of a veteran, you can Be The One. betheone.org legion.org

We've got multiple virtual training sessions scheduled throughout the year. Learn to identify the signs of a veteran in crisis and then ask the tough questions.
Learn more/register for the training: https://www.legion.org/advocacy/be-the-one/be-the-one-training.

***dePrevention

As part of The American Legion Be the One mission to end veteran su***de, we have joined forces with Columbia University to develop training for those who want to learn more about interacting and responding with veterans who may be in crisis.
After the training, participants will be able to:
* Use the Columbia Su***de Severity Rating Scale to determine at-risk individuals.
* Identify risk factors and warning signs
* Outline the types of suicidal ideation and four behaviors that indicate imminent risk.
* Communicate effectively with an individual who may be at risk of hurting themselves.
Members of The American Legion Family are encouraged to take part in this training and share the training with their communities. Check back to this page or subscribe to The American Legion Online Update newsletter

Today, we celebrate the birthday of the United States Army and honor the soldiers who have defended our nation since 1775.

From the Revolutionary War to today's missions around the globe, generations of Army soldiers have answered the call with an unwavering commitment to duty.

To all who have worn the Army uniform: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

R.E.D. FRIDAY
Remember Everyone Deployed Friday
Wear Red Today To Show Your Support For Those Who Are Deployed Defending The Country. We Are Here For You American Legion Cedar City Post 74 & American Legion Cedar City Auxiliary Unit 74 ……Service Not Self. God Bless Our Troops And The United States Of America 🙏🏻🫡🇺🇸

The Importance of Red Friday 🇺🇸❤️

RED Friday stands for “Remember Everyone Deployed.” It’s a meaningful tradition observed—often on Fridays—where people wear red to show support for U.S. service members who are currently deployed overseas.

Here’s why it matters:
• Honor & Awareness: Wearing red is a visible reminder that while we enjoy everyday freedoms, many men and women are serving far from home, often in harm’s way.
• Solidarity: It lets deployed troops—and their families—know they are not forgotten. A simple color becomes a powerful message of unity.
• Respect for Sacrifice: RED Friday acknowledges the emotional, physical, and personal sacrifices service members make, especially during long deployments.
• Community & Patriotism: When communities, workplaces, schools, or churches participate, it builds a shared culture of gratitude and remembrance.

For many veterans and military families, RED Friday isn’t about politics—it’s about people. It’s about remembering sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, friends, and battle buddies until they all come home safe.

Sometimes the smallest acts—like wearing red—carry the loudest message:
We remember. We support. We stand with you.
