In Middle School History class, we have been playing a Risk style game based on true historical events of the Ancient Civilizations of Rome, Carthage, Greece, and Egypt!
Each player or team selected a civilization and invested their gold in either building an army, famous structure / achievement, or leader. Various infrastructures and achievements game bonuses, and certain leaders either helped army defenses or gold bonuses.
Each team could create or break alliances, but the overall winner was the civilization that took the most cities.
Every 5 minutes during game play, a historically accurate event card was drawn, affecting one of the civilizations. These cards ranged from various wars, fires, volcanic explosions, droughts, famines, or other events!
Our 5th grade got a taste of the curriculum to look forward to next year! 6th-8th had a chance to review!
Overall, we think everyone had a wonderful time! And we were able to review major wars, achievements, and leaders!
