The History of the Herb Bunch 1997
Once upon a time two "Herb Enthusiasts" Beverly Kleckley and Melinda Spencer, began their zest to learn how to cook, grow, and use Herbs.
Off to the North Carolina Herb Association Herbal Retreat at Valle Crusis they went.
This intense love of Herbs grew from their experiences with their Grandmothers and a trip to Abingdon, Virginia to partake in an
Herbal Shakespherian luncheon.
Everyone thought they must be crazy for going so far for lunch.
They traveled through South Carolina, North Carolina & Virginia in their quest for knowledge.
Sharing their excitement with another friend, Willie Wingard, who was a retiree from the Lexington County Family and Community Leaders ( an extension of Clemson University) the three met and decided that its time to share our enthusiasm and interest for Herbs with others.
Within four weeks flyers were sent out, phone calls made, and in August of 1997 thirty five Herb enthusiasts- mothers, husbands, students, gardeners, leaders & educators- joined in to form what is now the "Herb Bunch"
